San Diego Padres Give Mark Kotsay Another Shot for $1.25 Million
Apparently, Mark Kotsay is not done playing baseball.
For whatever reason, the San Diego Padres feel Kotsay will be able to contribute to their outfield situation... because he's certainly not going to do anything for their run-scoring situation. Anyway, he's one of the few big leaguers to more or less beg to play there:
"There was no secret that I wanted to come...

What Does San Diego See In Kotsay?
For the second year in a row, Mark Kotsay has received a major league contract. The Padres agreed to a one-year deal worth $1.25 million with the 35-year-old (about to enter his age-36 season) on Tuesday.
For the second year in a row, Mark Kotsay does not deserve a spot on a major league roster — at least, not on his merits as a baseball player.
There was a time when Mark...

Kotsay ends short tenure with Brewers
Mark Kotsay's brief stint with the Brewers came to an end Tuesday, with veteran outfielder agreeing to a one-year, $1.25 million deal with his hometown San Diego Padres. This seems like a good time to admit that I was probably too hard on the guy from the start. I preferred Chris Dickerson and Jody Gerut over him at the time. The solution to every roster crunch was "DFA Kotsay...

GIF: Mark Kotsay’s Scorpion Slide
Ah yes, the scorpion slide; an act so hideous and pathetic that it has come to epitomize the Kangaroo Court. And what better player to show off his stinger during Game 3 of the NLCS than everyone’s favorite role-player on the Brewers (no, surprisingly it’s not Craig Counsell), Mark Kotsay.
With runners on first and second and one out in the top of the first, Prince Fielder laced...

Brewers OF Kotsay to start Game 3 vs. Cardinals
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Mark Kotsay will bat second in the lineup for Wednesday's Game 3 of the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Kotsay gets the call instead of the slumping Nyjer Morgan, who is just 3-for-20 with nine strikeouts during the postseason.
The 35-year-old Kotsay made just nine starts in center field during the regular season...

Kotsays kindness left lasting impression
Chicago -- A year from now, hardly any Milwaukee Brewer will remember the team's 7-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs on April 8, 2011. They may not even now. But thanks to Brewers outfielder Mark Kotsay, it was a day Matt Lendabarker and his entire family will never forget.
Lendabarker's father, Ray, was a longtime baseball fan about a year removed from suffering a severe stroke...

The Useless Veteran Signings Continue as Milwaukee Adds Mark Kotsay
It’s been a weird week on the transactions front, as the Yankees and Braves both added pitchers who don’t improve their team.
The pickings are admittedly slim at this point, but as leverage continues to go down, some of the last remaining free agents are finding homes. The Brewers provided the latest signing by inking free agent first baseman Mark Kotsay.
As down as...
