According to Mark LaMonica of Newsday.com, light heavyweights Gian Villante and Carlos Augusto “Guto Inocente” Filho will meet at “Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy” in September.
After starting off his Strikeforce career 0-2, Villante has won his last three bouts, most recntly defeating Derrick Mehmen by unanimous decision at “Strikeforce: Barnett vs. Cormier”. Villante is a training partner of UFC middleweight prospect, Chris Weidman.
“Guto Inocente” made his Strikeforce debut on the same card, defeating Virgil Zwicker by unanimous decision. He is 6-0 with two wins by KO or TKO and three by submission.
“Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Healy takes place September 29th from the Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento, California, headlined by a lightweight title bout between Gilbert Melendez and Pat Healy.
