Kurt Busch didn’t have to worry about his car failing Pre-Race Inspection this week, but did have to fight off his self-proclaimed “arch nemesis” Jimmie Johnson at the end of the race. On two different restarts, the older Busch brother beat Mr. Five-Time to win the AAA 400 and climb in the Chase standings. The first restart had Jimmie starting in the lead and in the bottom line; Kurt beat him on the high side to take the lead for good. After a caution, the next restart had Kurt on the inside again beating Jimmie when the No. 48 car spun his tires and watched the red and yellow No. 22 drive away and claim his first ever Dover victory. “To beat your arch nemesis, that’s just icing on the cake. That’s pretty sweet,” Busch said. Even though he finished 2nd, Jimmie Johnson did exactly what he had to do at Dover. He got a top three finish, led the most laps, gained ground in the Chase and most importantly regained confidence in Crew Chief Chad Knaus.
