Do you have what it takes to trade paint with the best drivers in NASCAR? Are you ready to unleash your inner Clint Bowyer? Is sponsorship and/or opportunity the only obstacle standing between your seat in the grandstand and the cockpit of a race car? Peak Motor Oil and Antifreeze wants to change that. Peak is partnering with Michael Watrip Racing to offer one aspiring racer the audition of a lifetime through the "Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge." After three decades in motorsports, the company will take its sponsorship to the grassroots level as it searches for the next emerging stock car driver. "The Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge is a really big deal for all the men and women across the country who feel they could be professional race car drivers if they were just given a chance," said Michael Waltrip, two-time Daytona 500 champion and founder and co-owner of MWR, in a release. "Our sport is always trying to usher in a new generation of driving talent as well as spread our passion for racing with everyone, and Peak is giving us a really unique opportunity to do so." From now until May 31, race fans can submit audition videos auditions via PeakStockCarDream.com, explaining why they should be selected as the next rising star. From the initial applicants, 10 first-place winners will be selected to be judged in July by a panel featuring Waltrip, Bowyer and Danica Patrick, who has been aligned with the company since 2005. The winner from the "driving school" will be "fast-tracked" through a thorough training process to earn a racing license and be qualified for the ultimate test - racing in a sanctioned event. "Our affiliation with Michael Waltrip Racing is a natural fit for the Peak brand, and the Stock Car Dream Challenge is a strong extension of our sponsorship," said Bryan Emrich, senior vice president of marketing, Old World Industries. "The DIYers (do-it-yourselfers) that use our products every weekend could only dream of getting behind the wheel of a sponsored stock car, and we're excited to give them this opportunity." Through the video auditions, aspiring racers will be judged on "originality, enthusiasm for racing, racing ability and experience, attention to the Peak brand." Candidates can also build points through a variety of social media outlets and acquiring 500 video views. A correlating sweepstakes offers prizes such as a 2013 Toyota Tundra, a VIP MWR Daytona race trip with tickets, pit passes and driver meet-and-greets, as well as other assorted gift packages. "This is going to be a tough competition," said Bowyer, who will drive the No. 15 Peak Toyota at Talladega Superspeedway (May), Daytona International Speedway (July) and Chicagoland Speedway. "I know how it feels to work your way to the top and I know how hard it can be. The winner will have earned their spot and I'm excited to get out there and race with them."
