Let us take a trip down memory lane. Summer of 2010 LeBron summoned all interested NBA executives and front office personal to come to his central free agency meeting offices in Ohio. The rumor was, LeBron was interested in Miami and teaming up with his buddy’s Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade. Was it possible LeBron James would snub New York and a chance to be bigger than he already was? I was so sure he was going to end up in the Orange and Blue that I was going to buy a Knick LeBron Jersey. That was all for nothing, as LeBron did the unthinkable in my opinion and headed to South Beach. I will break down the two possible destinations LeBron had to choose from in my humbled opinion.
First let us exclude a few teams and tell you why:
Chicago was never a possibility in my mind, because the shadow of MJ would have been too great. LeBron would have to win 7 Championships to be in the elite Chicago rafters, so this was out and first mention.
NJ/Brooklyn Nets was not in consideration even though Jay-Z was a buddy and a 1% owner with influence. This team was still in Newark, NJ and had no fan base to speak of. This would be a step down from Cleveland for LeBron and defeated the entire reason for leaving.
If we think about these teams and drop them out of consideration for LeBron and his inner circle, there are only 2 teams that made any sense.
