Since the news broke that there is going to be an NBA season this year Chris Paul and Dwight Howard have stolen the spotlight. The past week we’ve been inundated with stories about where Chris Paul wants to go, and where he’s going to end up. On top of that, there have been headlines addressing the future of Dwight Howard.

The big names are stealing the spotlight, but let’s not forget that Paul and Howard are still members of their respective teams. We can speculate all we want, but that’s just what it is at this point; speculation.

What about the real stories? The stories that aren’t speculation, but reality. We haven’t forgotten you. Take a look.

(5) The Miami Heat are 2-1 Favorites To Win It All

2-1 are pretty small odds. I mean that’s almost saying at least put them in the Finals for sure. I mentioned in an earlier post that no team needed this season more than the Heat. A lost year would have been horrible for them. Let’s not forget the Lebron, Wade, Bosh show is still playing in South Beach.

(4) The New Jersey Nets….

….. are one season away from becoming the Brooklyn Nets. This team will be as active as it gets in their attempt to acquire players. I do believe they will make a heavy run to get Deron Williams and Dwight Howard together. Without Howard, Williams is a goner. I’m looking for this team to make moves. Jay-Z wouldn’t have it any other way.

Lakers Can’t Appeal NBA’s Decision on Chris Paul Trade

According to the LA Times, the Lakers can’t really do anything about the NBA’s ham-fisted decision to nix the Chris Paul trade last night: “The Lakers planned to appeal to the NBA office after the Chris Paul trade was nixed, but there was a problem: The NBA considered the trade to have been blocked by New Orleans, not the league itself. It’s a sticky situation because the...

This photo is why Danny is willing to gamble on Chris Paul

You know what they say about pictures.  We know what they're worth.  And for Celtics fans, this photo might best encapsulate why Danny Ainge is willing to trade away Rajon Rondo for Chris Paul, and risk Paul playing no more than a year in Boston.  Doc Rivers, shortly after winning the Celtics 17th championship in franchise history, retreated to his office in the TD Garden...

Dan Gilbert’s Letter to Stern, Phil Jackson Predicts Chris Paul Debacle

Cleveland Cavaliers owner, Dan Gilbert has become famous for his bashing letters. After the decision, Gilbert wrote a letter to LeBron that resembled a note you’d pass to your ex-girlfriend in grade school and the NBA world reacted. Hey! I will admit that I embraced Gilbert’s unabashed LeBron letter– it was fun to read. This [...]

Mid-day talker: Brandon Roy, Randy Foye, Ricky Rubio, Chris Paul and David Stern

Good times.

PBT: Stern, owners pull a power play

PBT: By blocking a trade of Chris Paul to the Lakers, Commissioner David Stern and owners showed they want their power over star players back. And the NBA is worse for it.
