The NBA season is officially over the hill. All-Stars have been chosen and fantasy owners are beginning to reap the rewards for their pre-season research. For all of the fantasy basketball owners that didn't end up with a top 2 pick, we are hoping that our calculated decisions proved to be shrewd. So, without further ado, here is your: First Half Fantasy Basketball Breakdown League Leaders In Major Stat Categories (Players that have missed significant time are excluded) PPG - Kevin Durant with 29.6 RBS – Dwight Howard with 12 AST- Rajon Rondo with 11.1apg STL – Chris Paul with 2.6spg BLK – Larry Sanders with 3.2bpg 3PT (total) – Ryan Anderson with 127 TO (total) – James Harden with 166 Techs (total) -  Blake Griffin, DeMarcus Cousins, and Matt Barnes with 9 apiece Positional Leaders (most common position) PG MVP – Russell Westbrook – 22.7 ppg/8.1 ast/5.3 rbg/1.9 stl/3.5 TO PG Honorable Mention – Chris Paul – 16.6 ppg/9.7 ast/3.5 rbg/2.6 stl/2.2 TO SG MVP - Kobe Bryant – 29.2 ppg/4.8 rbg/4.7 apg/1.4 spg/3.4 TO SG Honorable Mention – James Harden – 25.8 ppg/4.5 rbg/5.4 apg/3.9 spg/4 TO SF Honorable Mention – Kevin Durant – 29.6 ppg/7.4 rbg/4.4 apg/1.6 spg/3.3 TO SF MVP – Lebron James – 26.4 ppg/8.2 rbg/7.1 apg/1.6 stl/2.8 TO PF MVP – Carmelo Anthony – 29.1 ppg/6.1 rbg/2.6 apg/.9 spg/2.5 TO PF Honorable Mention – David Lee - 19.6 ppg/10.8 rbg/ 3.7 apg/ .9 spg/ 2.7 TO C MVP – Tim Duncan - 17.5 ppg/ 9.8 rbg/ 2.7 bpg/ 2 TO C Honorable Mention – Brook Lopez - 18.6 ppg/7.4 rbg/ 2.1 bpg/ 1.7 TO Notes: This is a follow-up article to 2012-2013 Fantasy Basketball Quarterly, 1st quarter, which is a good reference for examining the growth and decline of some of the players so far this season. Rondo, Paul, Larry Sanders, and Ryan Anderson all won their respective categories last quarter, as well. I felt like Russel Westbrook's stats were slightly more advantageous across the boards, plus he has never missed a game (dating back through college and high school, as well). The KD vs Lebron argument takes place at the end of the article. When people talk about how Dwight's production has dropped off, it is relative to the statistical behemoth that he is. He has played well below the standard he had set in previous seasons, but is still only trailing the injured pair of Anderson Varejao and Kevin Love in rebounding. One of my favorite stat leaders is Larry Sanders, who is destroying the league leaders in blocks right now. He manages 3.2 blocks in just 25 minutes per game to go along with over 8 points/8 rebounds. Worth noting, Ryan Anderson is actually just behind Steph Curry in 3pg, but I went with total, because Anderson shouldn't be penalized for not missing as many games as Steph Curry. Awards Rookie Leader – Damian Lillard. The first year player out of Weber State was thrust into the starting role upon being drafted 6th overall this past summer by the Portland Trailblazers. He has responded by putting up 18.3 ppg/3.5 rpg/6.6 apg. Most people thought Anthony Davis would be the undisputed Rookie of the Year, but Lillard has been transcendent this season. Most Improved- There are a lot of other players that this could go to, but nobody deserves it as much as James Harden. As you saw above, he is the runner-up for best shooting guard in the league (statistically) and his expanded role after being traded to the Houston Rockets allowed him to flourish. A couple of honorable mentions go out to Nikola Vucevic and Jrue Holiday. Least Improved – Roy Hibbert. Hibbert has been a beast on defense, but almost every other category has shown a regression this season. He is putting up a paltry 9.7 points per game and barely scratching 8 rebounds per game. For the absurd amount of money he is making, it has been an extremely disappointing season for Roy Hibbert. MVP – Kevin Durant. He and Lebron's numbers were very interchangeable, and from the line I posted above it is arguable that Lebron would be the winner. However, Durant had the edge in my book because of his free throw percentage, three-pointers made/percentage, and block differential over Lebron. Particularly with the free throws, because Durant is almost shooting 20% better from the charity stripe. I may be a little bias, so if you disagree let me know. Leave your comments below and let me know what you would have changed or what award categories you think might be a good addition for the Third Quarter Fantasy Basketball Breakdown!

NBA refs call traveling like the German police write up speeding on the Autobahn.  The bigger the superstar, the lesser the likelihood you will get called for traveling.
