Oklahoma City police say at least three people were wounded in a shooting in Bricktown following the end of the NBA playoff game between the Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers. Capt. Lisa Camacho says the shootings occurred about 11:30 p.m. Monday in an area of the popular entertainment district east of downtown. Camacho says officers haven't been able to confirm how many people were shot yet but that some had turned up at area hospitals. No fatalities have been reported, she says, and at least two of the victims were treated for minor injuries. Camacho says two people have been arrested in connection with the shootings. No names were immediately released.

Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers Face a Crossroad

I was surprised by the Lakers this season. I was fairly certain that this year would mark the beginning of a steady decline. Had I done playoff predictions, I probably would have banked on a 6-seed or so, for the Lakers. Turns out I jumped the gun on their demise. The condensed season didn’t have an overly negative impact on their regular season play (you could argue they were...

Gasol-for-Bosh deal a win for Lakers and Heat

When Pau Gasol arrived in Los Angeles five years ago, he was the missing link for the desperately rebuilding Lakers. His passing, vision, skill and selflessness fit seamlessly into Phil Jackson's triangle offense, and suddenly the Lakers were back to being the Lakers feared, loathed and on their way to three straight NBA Finals appearances and back-to-back titles. Now, with...

Andrew Bynum says he can “play anywhere” next season

Andrew Bynum wasn’t really engaged in what would ultimately be the Lakers final game of the 2011-2012 NBA season. Early foul trouble could be the blame but in a closeout game, that’s not an excuse. 10 points and 4 rebounds… you’re an ALL-STAR Sir! In a postgame conversation with TNT’s Craig Sager, Bynum stated that [...]

The Lakers reached the end of the road Monday night in Oklahoma City, advancing just one game further than last season in being ousted again in the second round of the NBA playoffs. The Lakers were blown off the court again, losing the battle of fast-break points by a whopping 30-6 margin in losing the game, 106-90. The Thunder swept Dallas, which eliminated the Lakers in the second...

Kobe, Lakers pointing fingers facing elimination

Two of the Lakers' three losses in their Western Conference Semifinals series against the Thunder have come down to key turnovers at inopportune times. The latest was an interesting cross-court pass from Pau Gasol that Kevin Durant intercepted, setting up his go-ahead 3-pointer that proved to be the difference in teh fourth quarter. Gasol, a typically skilled passer, made that...

Metta World Peace Is More Delusional Than We Thought

On ESPN.com there is an article talking about how Metta World Peace said the Lakers were the better team in their matchup against the Thunder but just underachieved. “We had them beat. Stunned. So stunned. It’s stunning,” he said. When exactly did you have them beat Ron Ron? Was it in Game 1 when they took you to the woodshed 119-90? Was it in the next three games when their...
