The 2013 season is coming to a dizzying close, with teams still jockeying for position, and the some even hanging on for playoff life *cough*Lakers*cough*. Pro sports are almost like soap operas for us fans; we love the actual games, but the side stories and plot twists are what really keeps us talking. Season ending injuries, dust ups on the court, epic winning streaks, scoring eruptions, unlikely heroes, 2013 had it all. Let's look at some of my favorite moments of this exhilarating season: James Harden, Come On Down... We all know the story: The Oklahoma City Thunder had it's fledgling Big Three shock the league and fans alike (except me, I CALLED them beating San Antonio, dang it)  by making it to the Finals on the stellar play of the NBA's best scorer, the NBA's most athletic guard, and the NBA's quirkiest beard. James Harden's attacking style was invaluable to OKC's success, so when OKC shipped him to Houston abruptly right before the seas...

Suns’ big man Jermaine O’Neal goal tends James Harden’s shot leading to Rockets win

Tie breaking game-winner on a goal tend? It happened Tuesday night during ROckets vs. Suns. With less than 10 seconds in the fourth and the  game tied up at 98, James Harden was looking to hit the game winner for Houston and add to his 30 points on the night. He pulled up for a 3 that bounced off the rim. Overtime, right?Nope, Jermaine O’Neal’s attempt at a blocked shot actually...

James Harden Single-Handedly Gives Rockets Puncher’s Chance at Run to NBA Championship

It’s not every day the Houston Rockets and Memphis Grizzlies make national headlines, but when the two postseason contenders collide with playoff positioning on the line, people take notice. The Grizz may have higher NBA odds to win the championship outright, sure, but then there’s James Harden. In his first year with the club, Harden has emerged as the superstar Oklahoma City...

Jermaine O’Neal Helps Rockets Clinch Playoff Berth, Lakers Recapture 8th Seed

The Rockets clinching their first playoff birth since 2009 wasn’t odd. It was how they did so. Tied at 98 with the Phoenix Suns with regulation ticking away, James Harden launched what proved to be the always entertaining game winning missed three pointer. That’s because Jermaine O’Neal was whistled for basket interference effectively ending the [...]The post Jermaine O’Neal...

Jermaine O’Neal’s buzzer-beater goaltend costs Suns a game

The Rockets beat the Suns 101-98 last night on a James Harden three-pointer at the buzzer. The shot was bouncing off the rim when Suns center Jermaine O’Neal slid his hand through the cylinder and knocked it away. Not the smartest play in the world, but at least JO was working hard under the boards. (h/t DavidJohnson0909 and  Deadspin)

Houston Rockets beat Phoenix Suns on bizarre game-ending goaltending call (Video)

I've seen some pretty bizarre endings over the years in the NBA but Tuesday night's Phoenix Suns/Houston Rockets game had an ending that I had never seen before. With the score tied at 98, Houston's James Harden attempted a game-winning three pointer that ended up falling short as time expired and the game appeared to be heading to an extra frame. However, Phoenix Suns...

The Suns Twitter account is dismayed at Jermaine O'Neal's boner

Quite frankly, I didn't know Jermaine O'Neal was on the Phoenix Suns roster, let alone still in the league... until last night that is, when he came up with one of the most unique blunders in NBA history.  O'Neal goaltended a shot at the buzzer from James Harden... It's not like the Suns are going places this year, so if O'Neal is going to blow his...
