Veteran free agent Al Horford agreed to a multi-year deal with the Golden State Warriors .

Al Horford is entering his 19th season in the league with the Golden State Warriors after spending the 2024-25 campaign with the Boston Celtics.

Horford is a proven veteran who helped Boston win the 2024 NBA Championship.

He will add height to the Warriors’ rotation and will provide more three-point shooting as a stretch big.

Dalton Johnson says the Golden State Warriors have ‘never had a center quite like Al Horford’ with how ‘he can shoot it from three-point distance’

Horford averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists on 36.3 percent shooting from deep in 60 games in 2024-25.

He made 114 three-pointers with the Celtics and averaged 1.9 threes per game.

Horford’s three-point shooting will be valuable to the Warriors. Warriors reporter Dalton Johnson thinks Horford could break the Warriors’ three-point shooting record for a big in the Stephen Curry era this season.

“Really this helps Draymond Green. Give him less and less minutes, the fewer minutes of Draymond Green playing center, the better, especially for the postseason run.

“And really money, they’ve never had a center quite like Al Horford.

Quinten Post was a revelation last year, where he made 73 three pointers in 42 regular season games.

“That’s one behind Dario Saric making 74 when he was with the Warriors, which is most by a center ever in the Steph Curry era.

“Well Al Horford the way he can shoot it from three-point distance, even at his age, he’s made at least 103 pointers each of the last three seasons, while shooting in that three year span a little over 40% that is a huge gift.”

Details of Al Horford’s new deal with the Golden State Warriors

Horford signing with the Warriors was heavily rumored to happen all summer.

The move for Horford couldn’t become official until the Warriors finalized a new deal with Jonathan Kuminga.

Horford’s deal with the Warriors will reportedly be a two-year $12 million contract, which includes a second-year player option.

Horford will be a perfect fit in the Warriors’ starting lineup as someone who can space the floor and hit corner threes.

The 39-year-old looks to win another NBA Championship to close out his career.
