Gotta love the New York media. They beat up their teams better than anyone else. For those who missed the news last night. Amar'e Stoudemire suffered a severe cut on his hand after punching a fire extinguisher case following the Game 2 loss to Miami. And we thought Rajon Rondo was a hot-head? While I thoroughly enjoy watching the Knicks self-destruct, this debacle is bittersweet because I was hoping they'd challenge the Miami Heat.  Editor's Note: Injuries are never funny, unless self-inflicted.

10 really dumb sports injuries

Amare Stoudemire was mad Monday night. Real mad. The Knicks big man was so mad, in fact, that he decided to punch a glass case holding a fire extinguisher following New York's Game 2 loss to the Knicks. That, of course, was not a good idea. Stoudemire left American Airlines Center in a sling and his status for the rest of the playoffs is uncertain after causing a bloody mess...

T-shirt mocks Stoudemire's injury

The Miami Heat will certainly try to capitalize on Amar'e Stoudemire's hand injury, but a New York T-shirt company may have beat them to it. A day after Stoudemire punched a glass fire extinguisher case, Crosstown NY has released T-shirts mocking the injury, Yahoo Sports reports. The shirts -- in Knicks' blue and orange -- have "Amar'e" written across the...

Amar'e Stoudemire out for Knicks-Heat series and possibly longer

Amar'e Stoudemire did not suffer ligament or tendon damage when he cut his hand punching a pane of glass Monday night but will not be able to play another game in the New York Knicks opening round playoffs against the Miami Heat reported The New York Post. Sources said that, because the size of the gash and the amount of stitches in Stoudemire's non-shooting hand, the Knicks...

Knicks' Stoudemire cuts his hand after loss

New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire sustained a cut on his left hand that required medical attention after the Knicks' loss to Miami Monday night. Stoudemire was treated by paramedics and doctors, according to the Knicks, but it was not clear how serious the injury is or how it occurred. "How severe it is I don't know," Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson...

New York Knicks Problems Part 1: Injured Amare Stoudemire, was extinguished by the Knicks months ago

The New York Knicks kept their streak intact Monday night by losing their 12th playoff game in a row. After being beat down by the Miami Heat in Game 2, Amare Stoudemire suffered a laceration on his hand after punching a fire extinguisher case. (That’s kind of ironic, because they couldn’t put out the Heat. “How terrible was that joke?”). Why someone would try to punch...

Stoudemire cuts hand, Miami beats Knicks 104-94

Amare Stoudemire draped a towel over his left hand as he walked into the privacy of the New York Knicks' training room an hour after the game, needing a sanctuary from prying eyes. The specifics of what Stoudemire did immediately after Game 2 were unclear. Only this was certain: His hand was cut so severely that doctors and paramedics were summoned, drops of blood stained the...

Knicks' Stoudemire has surgery, out for Game 3 at least

New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire had surgery on his lacerated left hand on Tuesday, and the team said it is "doubtful" he will be available for the remaining games in the playoff series against the Miami Heat. Stoudemire punched a glass fire extinguisher case with his left hand after the team's 104-94 loss in Game 2, which put his team in an 0-2 hole in...

Amare Stoudemire Likely Out For Entire Series Due To Punching Fire Extinguisher

Amare Stoudemire's Incident May Be Part of a Bigger Picture

The Miami Heat took a 2-0 series lead over the New York Knicks on Monday night by winning Game 2 of their first round playoff series, 104-94. As the night went along, the game itself would only be a secondary story. After the game, Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire decided to punch a fire extinguisher glass door, suffering a laceration on his left (non-shooting) hand. He left American...

The Amare Stoudemire fire extinguisher incident now has a fantastic commemorative tee.

Apparently Mike Woodson told Amare Stoudemire to Attack the Glass more

Amare Stoudemire just couldn't take the Heat in Miami and, like all humans would, needed to put it out with an extinguisher. Classic, Amare. I would not be surprised if David Stern was gulling in his ear saying, "do it for The League, bro." [Follow me @TravisHouser]

Is Amare Stoudemire’s injury a blessing in disguise for the New York Knicks?

It didn’t seem possible that things could get worse for the Knicks after their game 2 loss to the Miami Heat. Then Amare Stoudemire went all Metta World Peace on the glass casing of a fire extinguisher. Stoudemire is reportedly “almost certain” to be out for game 3 at Madison Square Garden. Amazingly, things have gotten worse for the Knicks. Or have they? On paper, the Knicks...

What Was Amare Thinking??

(LYNNE SLADKY / THE ASSOCIATED PRESS) Last night after the New York Knicks lost to the Miami Heat 104-94, Amare Stoudemire decided to punch a glass casing surrounding a fire extinguisher. The Knicks are probably better without the glass puncher

I am not the first to say it and I will see if I am right tonight when the Knicks and Heat move to MSG. The Knicks are a better team without Amare Stoudemire. It really does not make sense from a talent perspective but this is a true case of addition by subtraction. Just think back a few weeks when the Knicks were on a roll. Carmelo was the man and putting up big numbers and hitting...
