Photo Credit: AP It seems that Denver Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala may be just another victim of the teams turnover. After general manager Masai Ujiri fled to the Toronto Raptors, and coach George Karl was fired by the team, Iguodala was the next domino to fall. It is now being reported that Iguodala has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract. Here is some information from the always reliable Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports: Denver Nuggets forward Andre Iguodala has decided to opt out of the final year of his contract and enter free agency, Yahoo! Sports has learned. Iguodala, 29, promises to be one of the most desired players on the summer market. His agent, Rob Pelinka, informed Denver CEO Josh Kroenke of the plan in a meeting on Thursday in Los Angeles. After superstars Dwight Howard and Chris Paul, Iguodala will be a target for several teams, including the Atlanta Hawks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks,Houston Rockets, Detroit Pistons and New Orleans Pelicans, league sources said. There is no doubt in my mind that Iguodala’s decision stems from the turnover in the front office, and I highly doubt he returns to the team. As Wojnarowski mentions, Iguodala will have numerous suitors. With word that Chris Paul and Dwight Howard are now looking to combine forces, Iguodala becomes the prime target for many teams. In my mind, his best fit would be with the Cleveland Cavaliers, as Iguodala, who has sometimes been asked to do too much on both his current team, the Denver Nuggets, and his former team, the Philadelphia 76ers, could instead play the “Robin” to Kyrie Irving’s “Batman.” Iguodala is one of my favorite players in the league because of his versatility, but I don’t think he is a max salary player. However, having multiple suitors may bump up the price-tag to the max, or pretty close to it.
