For the first time in three years, Brooklyn Nets Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard failed to win the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year Award, which I am just going to assume he’s blaming on Stan Van Gundy. Instead, this year’s honor went to New York Knicks center Tyson Chandler, because when you think of the Knicks, you think of defense. And that’s the kind of easy joke that so many people were ready to make, before Chandler beat us all to the punch and made the joke himself. That’s some good comedy right there, namely because the Knicks played less-than-stellar defense this season, as evidenced by their inability to play better than the 7 seed and/or stop the Miami Heat from pummeling them into the dirt in the playoffs. But to be fair, the Heat actually ranked lower than the Knicks in team defense this season, while the Knicks led the NBA in jackasses who punched glass. Report: Knicks' Chandler to be named DPOY

This season for the New York Knicks has been one to forget for the most part. Aside from "Linsanity," the Knicks' season has been mired with injuries to key players such as Carmelo Anthony, Jeremy Lin, Amar'e Stoudemire, coaching change, and even Amar'e resorting to stupidity (punching glass on a fire extinguisher cover) in the series versus the Heat. Yes the...

STAT Loses His Cool as Knicks Lose Game Two

The Knicks headed into game two of its first-round playoff series against the Heat minus the injured Iman Shumpert, but plus a relatively healthy Tyson Chandler. How this would ultimately translate on the court was unknown, but one thing was certain; things couldn't get much worse than the 33 point loss the Knicks suffered to open up the series. With Chandler rising above his flu...

On Melo, Chandler, Amar’e, Lin, Phil Jackson, and the Knicks

4020 some odd days. It’s the funniest joke on twitter. The Knicks haven’t won a playoff game in some 4000 odd days. Hilarious. The last time the Knicks won a playoff game, something in the past was the present! Hilarious! You guys are great. As the Knicks bomb out to the Heat, down 0-3 in the series, Knicks fans like myself are left scratching our heads. Here’s the quick recap...

Tyson Chandler is better than Dwight Howard this year

I don’t like as many dunks as I am told I should; no breakaway dunks should ever make a Top 10 Plays. Give me a drive and jam with hands in the face, or a no-look pass alley-oop with a one-handed flush. Those require more skill and toughness than a very tall person merely jumping [...]

Knicks, Stoudemire bound together

Amar'e Stoudemire losing a fight with a fire extinguisher was the latest turn in what's been a really weird season for the New York Knicks. From their awful start, to "Linsanity", to 'Melo going to hero to villain back to hero (and getting a coach to quit in the process) in approximately 30 days, Gotham didn't seem to have a quiet week all season long....

Pacers overcomes Magic, evens series at 1-1

It wasn't pretty, but the Pacers did what they had to do, breaking open a tight game in the third quarter to cruise to a 93-78 win and evening their first round series against the Magic at 1-1.The Pacers got out to an early lead, but the Magic, to their credit, came back to take the lead. I said at the beginning of the series that it was going to be a tough series. Yes...

Pacers-Magic Preview

Through two games of their opening-round playoff series, the Indiana Pacers and Orlando Magic have both had moments to laud and lament. Minus Dwight Howard, the Magic owned the underdog tag and successfully stole home-court advantage with a win in Game 1. Then the Pacers were able to brush off a woeful finish in that loss, regroup, and use all their personnel advantages down the...

Starting 5: Blowouts, Pacers got jokes, & Chandler "thanks" his teammates

Every morning, we'll give you five things from the night before in the NBA to start your day. 1: Blowouts! The San Antonio Spurs are serving notice right now. They are legit. The ghosts of Grizzlies past are being erased in this first round, especially after the Spurs blew the doors off the Utah Jazz. This was a start-to-finish domination for the Spurs, who put seven players...
