Just because of his last name, I’m a huge Austin Rivers fan. His last name even helped me overcome deep periods of disdain I felt as a Duke fan during the occasions when I wondered why such a talented scorer sometimes scored so inefficiently.
Without further ado (or any semblance of a well-written transition), I give you Austin Rivers, the coach’s son who believes his father’s team is better off without Ray Allen. (ESPN Boston)
“As funny as it sounds, I actually think both teams benefited (from Ray Allen signing with the Heat),” Austin Rivers said. “I think the Heat got a lot better obviously, because now the floor is spaced with Ray Allen.
“And I think the Celtics got better, because first off it was disappointing to (see him) leave because he was a part of that whole buildup to the Celtics again, but now you have a better defender in Courtney Lee, who is a great on the ball defender and someone who is going to add to the great defense the Celtics play already. And then...

The Celtics just announced they have waived Keyon Dooling, but this sounds like it was Keyon’s decision:
“Keyon has decided that he has given the NBA 12 good years and that it’s time to pursue other interests and spend more time with his family,” said Dooling’s representative Kenge Stevenson. “He will never forget his time in Boston with the Celtics.”
SCRANTON, Pa – The Boston Celtics have been noted as a team to always start the NBA season strong. In 2011-12′s condensed season, the C’s defied their past dominance in the early segment of the season. Credited with virtually no training camp, no preseason and out-of-shape bodies, the Celtics stumbled out of the gate. Barely [...]

All has been quiet on the Mickael Pietrus front so far this offseason, but interest in the happy-go-lucky veteran is reportedly picking up. Three NBA teams have expressed major interest in Pietrus, and two of the teams "seem motivated to get a deal done," according to CSNNW.com. The 30-year-old reportedly also has a strong overseas option on the table that contains an escape...

Gary Washburn summed up all the pertinent information quite nicely. File this one under “when 140 characters really are enough”. In a roster with more swingmen than a baseball team, it would come as shock if Downs made the cut for the final 15, but best of luck to him.
The Boston Celtics plan to enter training camp next week with a slew of new faces, with Darko Milicic being among them.
A league source confirmed to CSNNE.com that Milicic, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft, will sign a one-year deal with the Celtics next week for the veteran's minimum.
Welp there you go. Well, Darko is seven feet tall. So, he could, you...

With the addition of Rob Kurz, Darko Milicic, and now Micah Downs, the Celtics will have 19 players in training camp. They are limited to 20 training camp players so there is room for one more player if they decide...
Keyon Dooling helped lead the Boston Celtics to the Eastern Conference finals in 2011-’12.
The Boston Celtics added to their frontcourt depth by signing Darko Milicic to a one-year contract. A league source told A. Sherrod Blakely the deal is for the veteran minimum.
Milicic is a 27-year-old reserve center who can provide the Celtics with solid defense. He has limited offensive...
