PLAYERS: Bill RussellLeBron James
TEAMS: Miami Heat
NBA Twitter went a bit nuts last week with the whole LeBron James tried to name who would go on his "Mount Rushmore" of NBA history. That exercise is a bit tired and a bit pointless as there are more than four players that deserve a place in that National Monument to basketball greatness -- and if you have not been to Mount Rushmore, you should do so next time you are around South Dakota, it is pretty cool. One all-time great who does not want anything to do with being on Mount Rushmore? That is the NBA's greatest champion Bill Russell. He celebrated his 80th birthday this past week and got some special recognition at the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. It was in his interaction with today's stars that he offered LeBron James this nugget of "mine is bigger than yours." Craig Sager reported the following (h/t John Karalis of Red's Army): Before the game, LeBron James was talking to Bill Russell and Bill said ‘hey, thank you for leaving me off y...

Bill Russell schooled LeBron James on his NBA Mount Rushmore

LeBron James put himself on the NBA’s hypothetical Mount Rushmore last week, leaving out some of the best players who have ever played the game in the process. Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell was one of them. Russell won 11 NBA championships — that’s right, 11 — during his 14-year NBA career. His run included […]

Lebron James "texts" NBA commissioner Adam Silver

So Lebron James texts, and emails the boss? Not his owner, but the guy who makes the choices in the NBA. I never imagined, that James had that kind of relationship with new commissioner Adam Silver. I can see Lebron shooting a text to the commissioner about a foul call. He's already a big cry baby, and he's on the Mount Rushmore of floppers. ESPN"LeBron and I have had...

LeBron James: ‘At this point, I can’t’ imagine leaving Miami

LeBron James can’t imagine leaving the Miami Heat this summer if they win another NBA title. In a wide-ranging interview with NBA TV, James was asked by interviewer Steve Smith if he could picture himself playing anywhere else. ”At this point, I can’t,” James said. ”At this point, I can’t. But James never said he wouldn’t leave Miami to go somewhere else.   “We...

GQ X LeBron James X NBA All-Star Party

Of course the parties are some of our favorite things about NBA All-Star. GQ magazine teamed up with its March cover boy, LeBron James and Beats By Dre to host a soirée in NOLA. Held at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. The night was capped off with performances by The Roots with special guests including King James, Rick Ross, Miguel, Bun B and the original Cash Money star, Juvenile...

Why the NBA Slam Dunk Contest was a complete failure

Photo Credit: Lets face it guys and gals, the NBA All Star Weekend Dunk Contest was horrible! I would definitely hope that LeBron James competes next year in Madison Square Garden to at least make things interesting. What was wrong with it, you may ask. Well, for starters, the way the format was set up was just cluttered, tacky, and just all wrong. I understand...

NBA & NFL Mount Rushmore

Because of LeBron's James' comments regarding his belief that he deserves to be on the Mount Rushmore of the NBA, he sparked a great basketball debate of the top 4 NBA players in the history of the league.  Not only that but Google must have set an all time record for Mount Rushmore searches. I wrote an article yesterday with my all time Mount Rushmore: Michael Jordan, Magic...

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert doesn’t regret writing ‘The Letter’

It’s been nearly four years since LeBron James left Cleveland for Miami. And it was around that same time, the world was introduced to Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
