Grit, Grind, GRIZZ!:
Los Angeles Clippers
Golden State Warriors
San Antonio Spurs
This photo could be called “Battle of the Triple Double Machines.” Well, neither notched a triple double, but they could have: Clippers PG Chris Paul posted 18 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists; Grizzlies Center Marc Gasol gave his team 23 points, nine boards and eight assists. Call off the Apocalypse. Well, at least until the Grizzlies suffer another ugly loss.
I was cautiously pessimistic about the Grizzlies wins over the Lakers and the Kings, both teams with losing records (as the Grizzlies themselves were at the time). I felt that the Los Angeles Clippers would be a real test of how the Beale St. Bears are progressing after a wobbly start. After all, the Clippers had not lost at Staples Center this season, and were routinely running up 110 ppg. They have better coaching in Doc Rivers. And of course, they still have Chris Paul and Blake Griffin. Honestly, I expected our guys to put up a good fight, but it felt dangerous to believe they could win, let a...
BEST OF MAXIM
Yeah, we think it's flagrant, too.
The NBA calls it a Flagrant Foul 2 when you do something excessive -- and kicking an opponent in the face while he drives to the basket is pretty darn "excessive."
The Memphis Grizzlies' Tony Allen kicked the Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul smack in the kisser on Monday night. That earned Allen an ejection, which he complained...
Tony Allen is known for one thing; defense. He has made the NBA All-Defensive team three years running (twice on the first team) and is pretty much viewed as one of the best perimeter defenders in the game.
Tonight he decided to implement a new defensive tactic against Chris Paul and its pretty safe to say that it didn’t go so well.
The post Tony Allen stops Chris...
MINNESOTA — The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 102-98 on Wednesday, and history was made. Point guard Chris Paul set a new NBA record with his 12th straight double-double of points and assists, the longest streak ever to begin an NBA season. In the win against the Timberwolves, Paul almost seemed as if […]
MINNEAPOLIS -- One took over. The other got run over.
In the second of four matchups between two of the NBA's premier point guard-power forward duos, Clippers leader Chris Paul and his forceful sidekick Blake Griffin got the best of Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love, each commanding one of the final frames in a 102-98 victory over the Timberwolves. Minnesota's alpha dog, Love,...
The NBA has suspended Grizzlies guard Tony Allen one game without pay for kicking Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul in the face.
Rod Thorn, the NBA's president of basketball operations, announced the penalty Tuesday.
Allen was given a flagrant 2 foul and ejected after his left leg caught Paul's face with 1:51 left in the first quarter of Memphis' 106-102 win over...
It might not be on Kyrie Irving or Chris Paul’s level, but Russell Westbrook’s foray into ankle breaker territory was pretty impressive last night. First he leaves Randy Foye in his trail with a quick burst of speed and then completely bewilders JJ Hickson with a crossover that provides him with an open lane to the basket and the (semi) easy layup.
The post Russell...
Former Boston Celtics guard Tony Allen has spent the last four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, and has become a tremendous perimeter defender with the Western Conference club.
But his impressive defense let him down on Monday night, when he kicked Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul in the face. The kick was almost certainly accidental, and it’s likely that Allen was...
Chris Paul is after his 12th straight double-double, and the Los Angeles Clippers are after their seventh straight win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Paul will try to orchestrate both for the Clippers Wednesday night in Minnesota.
His 18-point, 11-assist effort in Monday's 106-102 loss to Memphis made him the first player since Magic Johnson in 1990-91 to begin a season...
Memphis Grizzlies guard has been suspended 1 game for kicking Chris Paul in the face Monday night.
Allen received a Flagrant 2 foul during the first quarter and was ejected after he raised his leg in the air while on defense and made contact with Chris Paul’s in the face.
Allen apologized to CP3 via Twitter following the Grizzlies 106-102 win.
1st thing 1st apologies 2 @CP3 accidental...
Tonight was a huge test for this Timberwolves team. A week ago this squad went into Staples Center and almost defeated the Los Angeles Clippers, formally known as Lob City. This wasn't just a big test for this Wolves squad, but also for Minnesota point guard Ricky Rubio as he faced off against Chris Paul for the second time this season. A test that was failed, both by the Wolves...
Getting away from home and bonding on the road has done wonders for the Memphis Grizzlies.
After causing a bit of anxiety with their fan base because of inconsistent play, the Griz have navigated through tough terrain and seemingly found smooth pavement.
Their 106-102 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night in Staples Center marked the Grizzlies’ third straight...
The “Brookie Monster” didn’t play for the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers…
…Nor did the “Big Ticket”, “D-Will” or “The Truth” – and “AK-47″ didn’t either, though no one ever really counts on him being in the lineup anyway.
Get close enough to the Brooklyn bench and the olfactory senses become overwhelmed by the glare...
