NBA Injury News:
Chicago Bulls’ guard Derrick Rose is said to have missed Thursday morning’s shootaround with a sore neck. Rose says he is okay to play in tonight’s matchup against the New York Knicks, but head coach Tom Thibodeau is calling Rose a “game-time decision.” Though the guard feels he will be able to loosen up in time for the club’s home opener, and dazzle the fans with his normal athletic ability, the decision will ultimately be made by the coach.
When Rose was asked if he was going to play, he responded, “For sure I know I”m going to play. But it’s just that I’ve got to get loose.”
He isn’t exactly sure when the injury occurred. It may have happened at some point during the team’s season opener against the Miami Heat. But Rose did state that his surgically repaired knee is doing just fine.
“I don’t know what play did it or whatever but my body’s just got to get used to playing. I’ve been getting treatment the last couple of days, even this morning,” Rose said. “It’s just getting my blood going, then getting into the arena and seeing how much attention there is for tonight…For sure, it’s definitely frustrating. But can’t get mad about it; can’t get sad about it. I know I’m doing all the things to get back on the court as quick as possible and working my butt off.” (ESPNChicago.com)
Rose shot 4-15 on Tuesday night and would hope to improve on that if he were to play in tonight’s home opener. The Bulls are set to tip off against the Knicks at 8PM ET at the United Center in Chicago.
