Bulls-noah-reacts-against
Even with a fantastic 4th quarter comeback for the Orlando Magic (12-20), outscoring the Bulls 23-14, they couldn't manage to close out the game in the final minute. The Bulls (17-13) have now beat the Magic in 7 of their last 8 outings. Despite Joakim Noah's absence (flu-like symptoms), the Bulls slaughtered the Magic on the boards for the first 3 quarters. This was surprising, considering the Magic had been rebounding well recently and the Bulls came into this game having averaged over 10 rebounds less than their opponents over the last 3 games. Nik Vucevic took over on the boards in the 4th quarter and the Magic actually led the Bulls in rebounds by the end of the game. The Bulls starting frontcourt trio of Deng, Boozer, and Gibson outscored their Orlando counterparts 75-30 throughout the game, which was the ultimate downfall for the Magic. If you watched the game, you know that the other reason that the Magic lost was the free throw differential. This game was undoubtedly over-officiated, with a total of 38 fouls being called throughout the game. Oftentimes, these calls were made on very little contact. The Bulls ended up shooting 19-25 from the charity strip on 22 Magic fouls, while Orlando only shot 11-14 on 16 Chicago fouls. You know the author is a homer when his team loses and he calls the game "over-officiated". Deal with it. The last few minutes of the game were very exciting. Starting around the 6 minute mark in the 4th quarter, the Magic made a serious push. Vucevic had a lot of great putbacks and some smooth turnaround low post shots. Nelson scored in a variety of ways; pull-up jumpers, layups, and three-pointers. With 46 seconds to go, Afflalo hit a corner 3 to put the Magic to within 2. On the next play, McRoberts blocked a Kirk Hinrch layup off of the backboard. The ball got tapped back to Hinrich, but he was caught standing out of bounds. With 25 seconds left, the Magic trotted downcourt, looking to tie it up. Jameer slashed to the rim and Taj Gibson smacked it away with authority. The ball went out of bounds with 11.3 seconds left. The Magic came back in after their final time out and Jameer managed to get Hinrich off of his feet with a pump-fake. He leaned into the contact, but no foul was called. Subsequently, Jameer was off-balanced and missed the shot. Deng got the ball and was fouled, basically ending the game. There were plenty of positives to take away from this game for the Magic. Jameer Nelson had a sensational game, with 32 points on 6 of 9 from beyond the arc. He was crucial in the final quarter to bring the Magic within a point of the Bulls. Vucevic notched his 14th double-double of the season. Arron Afflalo had a solid shooting night, but didn't contribute as much as he needs to in other categories. Unfortunately, the Magic didn't have help from J.J. Redick (3-12 FG), who posted a measly 7 points. For those of you that played the Crystal Ball predictions game, congratulations. It was by far the most competitive outing, thus far. Our winner for the night is Justin Dewberry, on his inaugural showing. Remember, its a weekly prize, based on your cumulative points throughout the week. The Magic Word will post another round of the Crystal Ball predictions game on Saturday, when the Magic host the New York Knicks. Chicago Bulls News: Joakim Noah Out with Flu-like Symptoms

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah will not play in tonight's game against the Orlando Magic. This will be Noah's first missed game of the season. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune reports on the illness.Noah managed just two points and four rebounds in 30 minutes of Monday's home loss to the Bobcats, clearly looking lifeless. Noah didn't practice Tuesday nor attend...

Derrick Rose Will Travel With Bulls For First Time This Season

Derrick Rose will travel on the Chicago Bulls’ two-game trip to Orlando and Miami, but coach Tom Thibodeau downplayed expectations of a more expedited return from knee surgery. Thibodeau said Rose won’t sit on the bench during the games. “All along, as he has started to do more, he’s going to be traveling and working on what he needs to work on,” Thibodeau said. “Prior...

What's the top individual feat in Magic history?

Single game records arent made to be broken, at least not easily. If they were, it wouldnt have taken 19 years for a Magic player to pull down Shaquille ONeals rebounding record. The truth is, single game records are extremely hard to reach. Rarely do you see a player attain one and that is because its a result of many outside variables coming together on one very special night....

Magic edged by Bulls for 7th straight loss

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Carlos Boozer had a season-high 31 points and 11 rebounds, Luol Deng scored 23 points and the Chicago Bulls hung on to beat the Orlando Magic 96-94 on Wednesday night. Taj Gibson added 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Bulls, who played without center Joakim Noah. Chicago was outrebounded 37-34 in Noah's absence but exploited an injury-plagued Magic front...

Beat Brian Scalabrine in a 1-on-1 “Scallanege”

So the details have finally been released for the Brian Scalabrine challenge vs. all of Boston in a game of 1-on-1. I touched on this in December about Toucher and Rich teaming up with Brian Scalabrine, who is sick of people on the street talking trash to him that they can beat him. The Toucher and Rich One-on-One Scallenge will take place on January 16th as the White Mamba will...

Bulls 96, Magic 94

ORLANDO -- Carlos Boozer had 31points and 11 rebounds to lead the Chicago Bulls to a 96-94 victory over the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. It was the seventh consecutive loss for the Magic (12-20). Jameer Nelson matched his career high with 32 points for the Magic, but he missed two shots in the last 11 seconds that allowed the Bulls to preserve the victory. Taj Gibson, in his...

Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss finally engaged

Former Chicago Bulls and L.A. Lakers coaching legend Phil Jackson finally gave his girlfriend, Lakers Executive Vice President Jeanie Buss an engagement ring. LeBron James Walking the Dog All Day Long Against the Magic (Video)

The process of letting the ball roll down the court without touching it in order to save time is called Walking the Dog.  I honestly can say I've never heard that term used before.  Apparently LeBron James loves walking the dog though.  He did it Monday for 10+ seconds against the Orlando Magic, which has to be a record if something as dumb as that was actually considered...

Warriors’ Kent Bazemore Clear Leader In Early Running For NBA’s Best Bench Celebrations

It seems the shoes of Brian Scalabrine have been filled. Rookie Kent Bazemore may not log a ton of time on the court, in fact he has only played 28 minutes this year, but he dances every game like no one is watching. The 6′ 5″, 201 lbs shooting guard has slowly become a fan favorite for his celebrations on the bench, and we are also now sold on Mr. Bazemore. Check out the incredible...

Ish Smith gets his chance

Every injury is an opportunity. When Jameer Nelson and E'Twaun Moore went down with injuries against Washington, Ish Smith was brought to the forefront. He started against Toronto for the fifth time in his career and started again against Miami. In those two games, Smith averaged 7.5 points per game. More tellingly, maybe, Smith scored 13 points on 6-for-12 shooting as...
