Barring an offensive explosion similar to that of David Robinson in 1994, when his teammates let him shoot just about every single time down the court en route to 71 points, New York Knicks Carmelo Anthony will successfully establish himself as the top scorer in the NBA this season. Melo currently holds a 28.7 to 28.1 lead over Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant. For much of the season, Durant led the NBA in scoring until a big April from Carmelo Anthony slingshot him past the Thunder star. Melo did himself a huge favor by shooting the ball, A LOT. It wasn’t anything out of the ordinary for Melo, as he averages nearly 22.2 shot per game, compared to 17.7 for Durant. LeBron James, who will finish 4th in scoring also shoots the ball fewer than 18 times a game. So while Anthony will get to add a trophy to his, wait, does he have any trophies?
