Is Pierre Jackson headed to the NBA?Courtesy: http://www.nba.com According to csnnw.com, the Cleveland Cavaliers and Denver Nuggets are interested in D-League star,  Pierre Jackson. Jackson plays for the Idaho Stampede, and recently scored 58 points–a D-League record for most points scored in game. Jackson’s rights are with the New Orleans Pelicans,  and they have not yet been offered a deal to their liking.  Both teams could use Pierre Jackson’s elite scoring skills. Although he is in the D-League, he is averaging 29.1 PPG, 6.2 APG, and 3.6 RPG.  These are outstanding numbers–even for the D-League.  However, it seems as though that the Cavs and Nuggets are the first teams trying to make a run at Jackson, and rightfully so. The Cavs very much lack consistent energy off the bench.  Players like Anderson Varejao and Matthew Dellavedova always give it their all, but other than them, the Cavs almost always struggle to find someone else  to provide energy.  Jackson could be a player that provides energy and intensity off the bench.  Most scorers–especially scorers that come off the bench– almost always provide consistent energy; it’s why Jamal Crawford is so respected around the league.  Jackson may not be the next Jamal Crawford, but if he can provide energy, then the Cavs would be content. The Nuggets could also use a solid scorer in general as their leading scorer is Ty Lawson who averages 18.0 PPG.  Lawson is a good point guard, and can score, but is not persay a go to guy.  Lawson is more of a pass first guard, and can shoulder some of the scoring load, but certainly not all of it.  If the Nuggets acquire Jackson, they will get that go to scorer they need. The Nuggets also could use a guard as Nate Robinson is out for the year with an ACL tear and Lawson with rib injuries. The Nuggets are also only five games behind the Golden State Warriors for the 8th seed in the playoffs, so taking Jackson could also help them make a run into the playoffs. These trade rumors may dwindle as the Pelicans have apparently said they don’t like any of the trade requests, but if a trade occurs, then the Cavs and Nuggets would benefit in having Jackson on their roster.
