For those of you expecting that Chris Paul's trade to the Lakers to be done by now, it appears to have hit a snag. Apparently, it hit a snag and commissioner Stern had to veto it for "basketball reasons".

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was allegedly against the deal and decided to send the below e-mail to David Stern where he calls 25 of the other NBA teams, "The Washington Generals" along with reasons why the trade should not go through.

Here is part of the e-mail courtesy of Yahoo Sports:

Icannot remember ever seeing a trade where a team got by far the best player inthe trade and saved over $40 million in the process. And it doesn’t appear thatthey would give up any draft picks, which might allow to later make a trade forDwightHoward. (They would also get a large trade exception that would helpthem improve their team and/or eventually trade for Howard.) When the Lakersgot PauGasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they tookon tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up anumber of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who maybecome a max-salary player).
Ijust don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen. I know the vast majorityof owners feel the same way that I do.
Whenwill we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
