With Rajon Rondo out for the season with a torn ACL, they will likely look to external candidates to help soften the blow of losing their point guard.  They could go to their bench exclusively for the rest of the season, but there are players available that could help the team going forward.  One of those players is Delonte West.A. Sherrod Blakely of CSN Boston thinks the Celtics could try to sign West now that they know the extent of Rondo's injury.  He says Boston will be searching through the D-League and the waiver wire for anyone they think can help the team immediately.  West could be that guy."A league source told earlier this season that the only way the C's would even consider bringing West back for a third stint in Boston, would be if one of the guards currently on the roster suffered a long-term injury."West has not played in the NBA at all this season.  He is currently playing in the D-League after being released by the Dallas Mavericks last year.  The Celtics, though, are familiar with West.  As Blakely mentioned in his article, West has been a Boston Celtic at two different points in his career.  In fact, the Celtics drafted him 24th overall in 2004.West has eight NBA seasons under his belt in his career.  He has averaged 9.7 points and 3.7 assists per game in his career.  Most recently, he played for the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011-12 season.  He averaged 9.6 points and 3.2 assists per game with them.Follow @hoopsinjurynews!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);;js.src="";fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document,"script","twitter-wjs"); var _gaq = _gaq || []; _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-34100676-1']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? Why we can still enjoy the Rondo-less Celtics

These guys still have something to prove. I'm not for one second going to argue that the Celtics are a better team without Rajon Rondo.  But there are some numbers that suggest Doc Rivers may have known what he was talking about when he said "You can write our obituary. I'm not." Boston was 18-20 in games Rondo played this season, and they are 3-3 so far without...

Sullinger to start vs Heat, Bass heading to the bench

From A. Sherrod Blakely, Jared Sullinger is jumping into the starting line-up today. #Celtics Jared sullinger will start vs #heat — A. Sherrod Blakely (@SherrodbCSN) January 27, 2013 This moves Brandon Bass to the bench, just one day after Bass complained about his playing time and production. Message sent to Brandon Bass. This is the right move in my opinion, as Sullinger has...

Rondo's injury may signal end of Big Three Era

With Rajon Rondo done for the year, several who cover the NBA have predicted that this is the end of the Big Three Era in Boston. Have to expect Boston to look to move some salary before the trade deadline now. Who goes (and for what) will be a tough call for Ainge— Chris Mannix (@ChrisMannixSI) January 27, 2013 Just a death blow for the Celtics. Probably kills next season, too...

Raptors Talking To Grizzlies About Rudy Gay

Much has been made of the Memphis Grizzlies and whether they will deal Rudy Gay before the trade deadline. Although a good player a big part of the team, new ownership is looking to shred salary, and Gay is vastly overpaid with a maximum contract. There has been plenty of speculation, with tons of potential landing destinations being tossed around. They recently made a trade with...

With trade rumors flying, Gay pushes Grizzlies past 76ers

PHILADELPHIA -- Memphis Grizzlies forward Rudy Gay remains the subject of trade rumors. He also remains unbothered. "Right now I'm a Grizzly," he said, "and I'm going to play like I'm a Grizzly." His follow shot with 13.9 seconds left Monday night put Memphis ahead to stay, and the Grizzlies went on to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 103-100. Gay...

Video: Kyrie Irving’s game-winning three-pointer versus Toronto

There is not much more to say about Kyrie Irving and the week he has had. Forty points in a win over the Boston Celtics, All-Star, 2012 Cleveland Sports Professional Athlete of the Year, 35 more points against the Bucks and this — a game-winning three with 0.7 seconds remaining in Toronto, marking another double-digit comeback win. Kyrie Irving. So casual, so lethal. [Related...
