Down to 12 healthy players, the Charlotte Bobcats have signed small forward Jamario Moon for the rest of the season.
The 6-foot-8 Moon fills the roster spot created when Charlotte cut Boris Diaw last month. A four-year NBA veteran, Moon has spent time with Toronto, Miami, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Clippers. This season he averaged 17.7 points in the NBA's development league for the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
The move Saturday helps fill the void left by injuries to Corey Maggette and Eduardo Najera, who are out for the season. Maggette strained his Achilles tendon, while Najera broke a bone in his forehead.
Moon is expected to join the Bobcats (7-51) for Sunday night's home game against the Boston Celtics.

Paul Silas’s ’11/12 Charlotte Bobcats have stumbled their way through a season so disastrous that they find themselves just seven losses away from making history. Fifty-nine games into this lockout-shortened, 66-game campaign the Bobcats stand at 7-52 (.119). If they go on to lose out they’ll pass the nine-win 76ers of 1972/73 (.110) for the worst all-time winning percentage...
Now it is safe to say that the consensus first pick is Anthony Davis. However, since we don’t know for certain that the Bobcats are going to get the first pick, the team will have to be ready to choose someone else when it does become their turn. So besides Davis, who do we want? [...]
Just two weeks after reporting that Michael Jordan would sell the Charlotte Bobcats in a few years if the team didn’t become profitable, The new York Daily news is now reporting that Jordan is looking to sell half of the franchise for $150 million. This doesn’t seem to be a far-fetched scenario. Very few teams [...]
The moral of the story: The Charlotte Bobcats are one of the worst NBA teams in history, and the Celtics — even without any of their three surefire Hall of Famers — aren’t.I haven’t watched the game yet due to outside work obligations, but when I get to it late tonight I look forward to observing the continued development of Avery Bradley’s offensive game.
Jamario Moon is currently with the D-League's Los Angeles D-Fenders.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- Rajon Rondo had 20 points and 16 assists to help the Boston Celtics beat the Charlotte Bobcats 94-82 Sunday night despite playing without three of their star players.
Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen were given the night off to rest and did not make the trip to Charlotte, N.C. to face the NBA-worst Bobcats. But the Celtics won anyway as Aaron Bradley...
