Chicago Bulls ink two players to Exhibit-10 contracts as training camp nears
USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bulls have recently signed Quenton Jackson and Max Heidegger to “Exhibit-10” contracts, giving the two guards an opportunity to earn spots on the team in training camp.

NBA experience

Of the two, Jackson may have the upper hand, as he played nine games during his rookie season with the Washington Wizards. A 6-foot-5 guard who played his college ball at Texas A&M, he joined the Wizards’ training camp and was waived afterward.

He then signed a contract to play in the G League with the Capital City Go-Go and averaged 15.5 points and 4.2 assists per game in 20 games. The Wizards then gave him a two-way contract earlier this year, paving the way for him to play in nine NBA games and post numbers of 6.2 points and 1.7 assists in 15 minutes of action per night.

Waiting for his break

Meanwhile, Heidegger is still waiting for his break in the NBA after he went undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft. He is a UC Santa Barbara alumnus, where he averaged 13.9 points in four seasons with the Gauchos. Most recently, he played for Saski Baskonia in Spain, averaging 9 points and 3.6 assists in the Liga Endesa Playoffs.

Exhibit-10 contracts are essentially “training camp deals,” with the salary being used in these not counting toward the salary cap. The advantage of engaging in such deals is that the Bulls have first dibs in signing these players to their G League affiliate after they’re officially waived.
