One of the players the Celtics were believed to be interested in to fill out their frontcourt depth is now off the market. Chris Johnson, 26, who played in four games with the Celtics last season, signed with the New Orleans Hornets on Tuesday. Johnson was waived by the Trail Blazers on March 15 and Celtics coach Doc Rivers told reporters his team might be interested in the second-year player. The Hornets did not announce the terms of the deal. The Celtics' options to add a big man after the trade deadline continue to dwindle. J.J. Hickson was reportedly close...

After every game, we'll take stock of how each individual performance affects the player's overall value.
Rajon Rondo: He shot 4-14. All four of those shots were lay ups, making him 0-7 from 3 feet and out. He did have 13 assists and 6 steals. And that alley oop fake to KG/pass to Ray for 3 was sold perfectly.
Paul Pierce: Did Paul Pierce...
In other words, try not to get your hopes up, ladies and gents. Kevin McHale isn’t walking through that door. Robert Parish isn’t walking through that door. Even 37-year old Shaq isn’t walking through that door.I forgot Josh Powell even existed. Kyrylo Fesenko is most famous in my mind’s eye for vowing not to make more than five jokes per day. Turiaf’s probably the biggest...
It is no secret that Ray Allen is one of the many athletes benefiting from to increased training and health knowledge among athletes and trainers today. Many people probably forget that Ray Allen had some major ankle issues before coming to Boston. Just ask the fans in Milwaukee or Seattle. They remember all too well.
Ray’s secret to success, you ask? Bigger shoes… Ray Allen...

There is a really good chance the Boston Celtics release swingman Marquis Daniels.
Daniels would only be released if he wants to play elsewhere. Right now, the Celtics have not decided to release him.
He signed a one-year deal with the Celtics in the off-season. But he has seen limited time in his...
Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump.
“It’ll be fun,” said coach Doc Rivers, perhaps speaking more in the hopeful than definitive sense. “We have a chance to catch Atlanta, have a chance to put room (between themselves and) Milwaukee and...
Forward JJ Hickson gets buyout from Kings, source tells Yahoo!— Marc J. Spears (@SpearsNBAYahoo) March 19, 2012
Hickson and the Celtics have been linked before so don't be surprised if Boston signs him to add some depth to their front court. However, he has missed games with some back spasms with no certain timetable for a return.
Thanks to JayCeltic9 in the shoutbox for the find.
The NBA lockout occasionally leaves its imprint on an otherwise nondescript meeting between two middling Eastern Conference playoff teams, and tonight the lockout gods (or demons, rather) pushed dozens of shots wide right, or left, or short, or long.Even the game’s most exciting highlight, Jeff Teague’s tomahawk dunk on Ray Allen’s dome, resulted in a mistake. He screamed...
Boston Celtics center Jermaine O'Neal will undergo season-ending surgery on his left wrist.
O'Neal has missed 13 games with a sprained wrist this season. No date has been set for the procedure.
O'Neal, 33, was averaging 5.0 points and 5.4 rebounds in 25 games in his 16th NBA season.
O'Neal was the 17th overall pick of Portland in the 1996 draft, making the leap from high school.
ATLANTA (AP) -- Ray Allen hit two 3-pointers in Boston's 13-0 run in the fourth quarter and protected the lead with two free throws in the final seconds as the Boston Celtics held on to beat the Atlanta Hawks 79-76 on Monday night.
The Celtics led 73-58 at the end of the run. Joe Johnson, who had 25 points, had three late 3-pointers as the Hawks rallied. Johnson's 3 with...
Being at this game last night, I can tell you that Jeff Teague definitely got the crowd on their feet with this slam on Ray Allen. Shortly after, Teague got a tech for “taunting” Allen. The Celtics left Philips Arena with the 79-76 win over the Hawks.
Watch the dunk below.
Celtics and Bulls have no interest in Derek Fisher, sources say. Union prez expected to discuss "ideas and concepts" with MIA, OKC and SAS.
