Hoop Fantasies Fantasy Basketball Blog:
Portland rookie Damian Lillard bounced back from a dreadful 1-of-16 performance with 33 points. It wasn't enough to top the Miami Heat; the Blazers fell 117-104.
Lillard hit 10-of-18 shots and 10-of-11 free throws in a stellar shooting night. He filled out his line with three 3-pointers, a rebound and three assists in 39 minutes.
LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in 29 points (13-of-20 shots), five rebounds and an assist.
Nicolas Batum and J.J. Hickson were both quiet. Batum, who has struggled with a wrist injury, scored just five points to go with two rebounds and four assists in 39 minutes.
Hickson played just 13 minutes and ended the night with five points. No mention of an injury. He did have three fouls, so maybe he was simply benched.
Wesley Matthews scored 20 (8-of-13 shots), including three 3-pointers. He's streaky, but he's had four good games (and two bad) in February.
BEST OF MAXIM
To even be in the Michael Jordan discussion you need at least three rings. Until then there is really nothing to talk about. Lebron is having a great stretch of games and he is totally locked into Optimus Bron mode, but none of that matters.
Bron’s legacy will depend on how much jewelry he has when it is all said and done.
From a practice sense, they aren’t the same type of player...
LeBron James and Dwayne Wade have been on a tear on the court the past month and it seems as though they’ve been doing pretty well of the court as well. They were seen at the Miami Hurricanes Mens Basketball game, they’ve been seen together at the hottest restaurants in Miami, and last but not least they’ve had the honor of posing with two of Miami Ballet’s Prima Ballerinas...
LeBron James is having a history making season. He’s accomplishing things that we’ve never seen before as basketball fans. For an NBA record six games, LeBron has scored 30 or more on 60% shooting. There was a four game stretch during this same time frame that LeBron was at 75% shooting. Let that marinate for a second.
Check out a few highlights from Heat vs. Blazers
The Wednesday Dunk Battle is your most important weekly stop as a With Leather reader. Your viewing of a collection of dunks and decision regarding which dunk was the most Slam Dunk is important not only for editor-to-patron relations, but for SCIENCE, because deciding which dunks are best is science’s primary goal.Last week’s winner (in a landslide) was Kobe Bryant. This week’s...
LeBron has been simply phenomenal this season. It will be very hard for any other player to overcome him in the MVP race
I'm sure you've heard of all the ridiculous, superhuman-like stats that LeBron James of the Heat has put up recently in the month of February in which James' Heat have played six games, five of which they have won. A shooting percentage...
Dwyane Wade posted this photo of himself in Oklahoma City on Instagram late Wednesday night. The All-star said he was bored and tightening up his skills on the piano. Is this about to be a new trend amongst NBA players? Tickling the ivorys to pass the time. Or is DWade simply sending a subtle shot to Kobe Bryant whose posted a photo and video of him playing the piano, most recently...
The Miami Heat's 107-97 win over the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday afternoon on ABC drew a 5.0 overnight rating. Excluding Christmas Day games, it's good for the second-highest regular season overnight on ABC since they've been airing the NBA in 2002. This year's game trails just a Lakers-Heat matchup from last March, and is tied with a Lakers-Cavaliers game from February...
Hedo Turkoglu became the second Magic player since 2009 (Rashard Lewis) to receive an NBA suspsension for violating the league’s anti-drug Tuesday, but the 12-year-veteran claims he unknowingly took the banned substance. Turkoglu says he was given the medication, which was the banned substance methenolone (a steroid), while recovering from a shoulder injury in Turkey over the...
The market for Greg Oden no longer includes the Miami Heat. Fox Sports' Sam Amico reports that the Heat have pulled out of the Oden sweepstakes.
Still in the running are the Cleveland Cavaliers and Charlotte Bobcats. Both franchises are willing to offer Oden a deal after the February 21 trade deadline.
The Cars are reportedly ready to offer the former No. 1 pick a two...
The Big Leagues Watch Norris Cole's amazing no-look alley-oop to LeBron James.
In just over a week, the February 21st NBA trade deadline will have come and gone and the Portland Trail Blazers will be the same team then as they are today. The crux of the deal or the anti-deal is the Blazers lack of assets that other teams want or the Blazers are willing to part with. Yes, they have a talented starting five. But as it has been discussed ad nauseam the Blazers...
