As USA Today points out, the whole Delonte West and Gloria James ordeal was just a rumor.  That rumor was always circulating on the web when LeBron James would do horribly on the court and as a nasty taunt to get into his head.  The rumor was pretty much that Delonte West and Gloria James (LeBron’s mother) had a relationship going on that dates back to the days when LeBron and Delonte were teammates on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Delonte West told The Dallas Morning News: If we want to continue to grow as a human race, what are we teaching our kids if we try to make humor and fun out of stuff like that?  Number one, something like that never happened.  I don’t know where they got that from.  For a strong black woman like that, for people to try to tear her down, that’s terrible.  That’s terrible in so many ways. That rumor and/or taunt really is horrible.  On the other hand, the fact that the idea was being thrown around so loosely and freely, fans started actually believing that Delonte West was LeBron’s step-father.  Now that Delonte West denies all of that, somewhere out there, LeBron haters are conjuring another nasty taunt in an attempt to get to him.  I, for one, still stand by my criticism of LeBron James for “The Decision” and all that followed.  ”Not 7″ said the self-proclaimed “king”.  I will never forget that.  Nor will people automatically forget about this whole Delonte/Gloria James rumor.

LeBron James wearing gold shoes for season opener against Celtics (Pictures)

With the Miami Heat set to receive their NBA championship rings before tipping off the season against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday night, you had to know LeBron James would have some special swag in store for the occasion. LeBron will be rocking some gold-themed Nike LeBron X sneakers — you know, the same shoes King James has found himself defending because of the insane price...

Delonte West not Coming Back to Dallas Mavericks

A source says that Delonte West is not expected to return to Dallas, just one day after he was suspended for a second time this month. After the Mavs’ preseason loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, the team suspended the guard once again for conduct detrimental to the team. The Mavs are working [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links...

Heat get their rings in glitzy ceremony

LeBron James held his index finger aloft, then turned and took a walk nine years in the making. A few moments later, a championship ring - finally - was his. James and the Miami Heat celebrated their NBA title once again Tuesday night, with the ring-and-banner ceremony replete with an indoor fireworks show that immediately preceded their season opener against the Boston Celtics...

Mavs release West after suspensions

The Dallas Mavericks have waived guard Delonte West after suspending him twice in less than two weeks for conduct detrimental to the team. The move Monday created a roster spot for center Eddy Curry, who was picked up last week and could end up starting in the opener against the Los Angeles Lakers because of an injury to Chris Kaman. West, who has bipolar disorder, indicated in...

Mavericks waive Delonte West

The Dallas Mavericks waived guard Delonte West on Monday, ridding them of an off-the-court problem and providing a roster spot for Eddy Curry. West had been suspended twice in less than two weeks during the preseason for conduct detrimental to the team. The Mavs had suggested he was a bad influence on the young players. The decision to leave him off the 15-player roster was not...

Cavs owner regrets guaranteeing title

Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert wishes he could take back that guarantee about winning an NBA title before LeBron James. When James left Cleveland for Miami as a free agent in July 2010, Gilbert famously predicted in a letter to fans that his Cavs would win a championship before James got one with the Heat. Well, that ended in June when James led Miami to a finals win over Oklahoma...

James Harden: "Foundational" Player?

The big news in the NBA world (other than the season starting tonight - YIPPEE!!) is of course the Oklahoma City Thunder trading away one of their "Big Three" to the Houston Rockets.  When James Harden and the Thunder ended up being a measly (relatively speaking) $6 million over four years apart contract negotiations, OKC thought they better ship The Bearded One out to...
