Delonte West is a good player that can help any team win. He needs to help himself out though.

DELONTE WEST is mad at the media. He’s mad at his salary and at the atrocious start to this lockout shortened season for his Dallas Mavericks. And you can even say West is somewhat disappointed that he won’t be going to the White House to meet President Obama with the rest of the team. All this was revealed by West himself during his Twitter rant on Saturday.

West first went on a rant about being unable to visit the White House (which is customary for pro sports champions to do) because of his past history with traffic and weapons charges.

“I’m banned from going to the White House, so I’m not going to make it,’’ West said after Saturday’s 96-81 win over the New Orleans Hornets. “But I’m going home to D.C., I’m just not allowed to go to the White House.

“That’s what happens when you make bad decisions in your life. You can’t go to the White House.’’

Once West arrived back in his native D.C., he tweeted his disappointment with the ban:

But what upset West the most was what he perceives as the media making him out to be some gun-toting thug by focusing on his weapons charge and White House ban and not on his 12 point, 4 assists game against the Hornets:

Yet apparently West is also here with Dallas to scream at the organization over his salary, going from $5 million (while with the Cavs) to a one-year league minimum $1.4 million in the aftermath of his legal troubles. West apparenly pulled those comments from his Twitter page, offering instead an explanation and apology for his discontent: West comes with a little baggage but is a very reflective person. He says what he means.

Delonte West is the kind of guy that speaks his mind and more often than not, dude is correct in what he says. But where he gets into trouble is putting the focus of his rants on Twitter (first of all), the media and others. Look in the mirror first, Delonte. Like it or not, right or wrong, perception is reality in this society. You want to carry guns around and play the playa-pimp role, this is what you get.

But despite all his issues, West is a good guy and a solid role player for any team. He just comes with some baggage as he will readily admit:

He’s also a funny guy. Share this:

West banned from White House

Delonte West is apparently not allowed to accompany the defending NBA champion Dallas Mavericks on their visit to the White House on Monday. Whatever could West have done to deserve that? Well, this: West, 28, was arrested in 2009 during a traffic stop for carrying a Remington 870, a 9mm Beretta pistol and a .357 magnum in a guitar case. He pleaded guilty to weapons and traffic charges...

Delonte West Had A Twitter Meltdown

Delonte West won't be making the trip with his teammates (he's on the Dallas Mavericks now) to visit President Obama at the White House, as is customary for all championship teams these days. Background checks are now required and West apparently flunked his thanks to weapons charges from 2009. Apparently this harsh reality triggered something...

Mav banned from White House visit?

The Dallas Mavericks, at the expense of owner Mark Cuban, will be visiting the White House on Monday in honor last season's championship. But apparently, there's one Maverick that will not get the opportunity to shake President Obama's hand. "I'm banned from going to the White House, so I'm not going to make it,'' Mavericks guard Delonte West said...

A Couple Of Beer-Swilling Guys With Beards Sat On The Mavericks' Bench Tonight In Detroit

At first glance, it looks like these two jokers kicking back with beers simply had seats at the end of the Dallas bench, but it soon becomes obvious they're actually seated between Delonte West and Vince Carter. It's tough to tell whether the best part of this is the video itself, complete with that terrific shot panning the Mavs bench until...

Fashion Designer Aaron Cohen Drinks Beer on Mavericks Bench During Pistons Game

A couple of fans were sitting courtside during the Mavericks-Pistons game Tuesday at the Palace, drinking beer like they were at a bar. The Detroit announcers were going pretty crazy trying to figure out who these guys were and why they were there. After all, it’s not too often you see fans sitting in the middle of a team’s bench, enjoying cocktails no less. In this video from...

Are These Drunks Mark Cuban’s Replacements?

On Tuesday night at the Palace of Auburn Hills,  the Detroit Pistons and Dallas Mavericks played a lopsided basketball game while two drunkin’ gentlemen were sitting right between the Mavericks Delonte West and Vince Carter drinking beer. V.I.P seats if you ask me. It’s too bad they were at the Pistons game with one hundred other fans watching a bad basketball team stink it...
