Dikembe Mutombo may be in the minority with his opinion on David Stern.credit: deadspin.com David Stern is certainly not the most popular commissioner in sports; and that’s saying something considering Roger Goodell’s popularity, and the fact that the NHL is in the midst of a lockout. He has caught criticism for a wide variety of things, ranging from the implementation of a dress code to nixing the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. It’s a tough job, for sure. You can’t make everyone happy. Stern will soon be retiring, with Adam Silver taking place as commissioner.; One person who is high on Stern is retired NBA big man Dikembe Mutombo. Via Hoops Hype: You talked earlier about the end of the world as we know it… Well, if it happens, David Stern will not have the chance to step down as commissioner. What do you think about what he’s done in the NBA throughout the years? DM: Our commissioner David Stern has done a wonderful job, and I don’t know if there will be another commissioner in the NBA history as good as him, another that will do the great work the commissioner has done. We’re so happy about him. I don’t think there’s anybody that can complain. The great work he has done: from TV, promoting the game, the fans, the Basketball Without Borders program… There’s so many things the comissioner has been able to do… I don’t know where to start and where to finish.   That’s certainly very high praise from a very well-respected player in Mutombo. I’m not sure how many people would agree with how he described David Stern, but it’s certainly a powerful statement. -Mark Evans, Assistant Manager/Editor of Content Follow us on Twitter The post Dikembe Mutombo Praises David Stern appeared first on Pass The Pill.
