The Toronto Raptors started at the bottom. Some 19 years later, they’re still at the bottom. But that’s nothing Drake can’t change. The popular rapper grew up in Toronto, back when he was still known as Aubrey Graham, and was still living there when the franchise made its NBA debut in the 1995-96 season. So, when he was asked him to join the franchise as the team’s global ambassador, the 27-year-old jumped at the opportunity. The Raptors have made the playoffs just five times in their 18 seasons, and they’ve never made it past the conference semifinals. The addition of some big-name pieces such as shooting guard Rudy Gay should help. Drake seems to think this is just the start of something big in Toronto. He’s so amped about it that he even made a motivational video to get Raptors fans to believe, too. We’ll see if it works. Check out the video below to see Drake talking about basketball things with some violins playing in the background. Filed under: Headlines, NBA, NCAA Tournament, Toronto Raptors, Video Non-NESN
