Orlando Magic center and noted frontrunner Dwight Howard has possibly come out with another team on his list of preferred destinations, this time telling the Chicago Tribune on Friday that he would be open to a trade to the Chicago Bulls.

This doesn’t appear to be an official endorsement. So far, Howard has limited his preferences to the Clippers, Lakers, Mavericks and Nets.

Howard is expected to opt out of his contract after this season and has given the Magic a chance to trade him in order to see at least something in return for his departure.

It’s odd that Howard doesn’t already have Chicago on his list of preferred destinations, given that he wants to play for a contender in a big market. Led by reigning MVP Derrick Rose and coming off an appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Bulls easily fit that mold. Howard shot down rumors that he doesn’t want to share the spotlight with another superstar in Rose:

“If I could play with Derrick [Rose] right now and God wanted that to happen, it will happen,” Howard told the Tribune. “It has nothing to do with me not wanting to play with Derrick Rose. I love him. That’s my brother.”

Some have argued that adidas, which has endorsement deals with both Howard and Rose, doesn’t want two of its top players on the same team. That’s something Howard also refuted.

“It has nothing to do with Adidas,” Howard said. “In fact, Adidas would love that because me and Derrick have the same guy.”

The Bulls certainly have pieces to offer an attractive deal to the Magic, but the question would be if Chicago actually wants to shake up its roster in the middle of what’s thus far been a successful season that currently has the team atop of the East’s standings.

Orlando probably doesn’t want trade him before the all-star game at the end of February. The Magic host the event this season, and it’d be understandable if they don’t want Howard coming back into their place representing another team.

In the meantime, there is perhaps growing contention between Howard and his Magic teammates. Reports say that Howard called out the effort of the rest of his team during halftime of a 93-67 loss to the Hornets (the Hornets!) last Friday.

The Magic have lost four of their last five games and currently sit at sixth in the East.
