It’s never too early to look at fantasy basketball projections, and if you are a Lakers fan, chances are you would like to land at least someone from the purple and gold. With that being said, you don’t want to be the Laker homer who drafts a player way too early. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Steve Nash are the leaders on the squad, so it should come as no surprise that they are the top options in standard leagues and daily fantasy sports. So when should you target each one of them? Kobe Bryant Obviously, the Achilles injury will play a pretty big role in his production in 2013-2014. No one knows for sure when he will make his return to the court, which means that he will have a lot more value in daily fantasy sports as opposed to full season leagues. When healthy, he is still a volume scorer with good, but not great, efficiency numbers. The injury and age knocks him down more than most are used to, but he is still a guy that will likely be taken in the 40-45 range overall. Pau Gasol Despite being a year older, Gasol might rebound from a subpar season a year ago. Him and Dwight Howard never seemed to understand how to play together, so the Spaniard’s numbers suffered. He will have more freedom to do what he does best this year, so expect him to remain close to a top 50 fantasy basketball player. Steve Nash See a theme here? Obviously, Nash is not in his MVP prime, but he is still a somewhat valuable daily fantasy sports piece to target. The NBA has really evolved at the point guard level, and that hurts an aging Nash who was never a particularly good defender in the first place. He’ll be available in the middle to late rounds, but don’t wait much past the top 75 picks in your draft to get him. .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } @media(min-width: 500px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 300px; height: 250px; } } @media(min-width: 800px) { .bottom-of-post-responsive { width: 336px; height: 280px; } }

Lakers Tweet ‘Never Forget’ Photo of Kobe Bryant on Anniversary of 9/11, Quickly Delete Tweet

If the Lakers were looking to offend a few people and confuse just about everyone else, they succeeded. Twitter was loaded with 9/11-themed messages on Wednesday, the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The tweets ranged from touching and personal to curious and questionable, with the Lakers pushing hard to lead the latter group. A photo of young Kobe Bryant...

Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant is ‘feeling pretty good’

Although “feeling pretty good,” Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant remains unsure if he’ll perform against the Clippers in the season opener on October 29. After suffering a torn left Achilles tendon, Bryant underwent the knife to repair the wound on April 13. Expected to miss a minimum of 6-9 months, “Black Mamba” was pictured walking without his boot on June 1. “I’m...

Kobe recalls the first time he met Shaq

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal are considered by many to be the greatest one-two punch to ever step on a basketball court. Over their eight years together – which were far from easy at times – the pair made four NBA Finals appearances and won three championships, but what was it like when these two NBA legends first met each other? Bryant recently told Jimmy Kimmel that...

Kobe Bryant remains uncertain if he will play in Lakers’ season opener

More time has passed in Kobe Bryant’s recovery from a torn left Achilles tendon. But the Lakers star still hasn’t received any clarity as how that will translate when he returns to the basketball court. ‘I don’t know [whether] that means I’ll start the season – I hope so” Bryant said in a recent interview to Time Out Dubai to promote his upcoming trip there later this...

Kobe Says He’s Not Sure He Will Be Ready For Opener

By all accounts, Kobe Bryant has been ahead of schedule as he recovers from the Achilles injury that could be devastating to his career. He has looked good in all  the appearances he has been doing but on a current world tour to sell shoes (is everyone on one of these right now?) he shared his thoughts on his rehab: ‘I don’t know [whether] that means I’ll start the season...

Count Antawn Jamison as another person who thinks that Kobe Bryant is far from finished

Jamison spent a single year as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, scoring well off the bench for a team that stunned the NBA with its poor regular season and embarrassing playoff exit Although the Los Angeles Lakers headed into the 2012-13 NBA season as widespread favorites to win the Western Conference and face off with the Miami Heat, and maybe beat them, in the Finals...

Source: No One Within Lakers Believes They Can Sign LeBron In Free Agency

The history of the Los Angeles Lakers suggests they should be able to bring aboard a major star in 2014, when they could have large salary cap space. Some members of the Lakers' management, however, have long faces -- particularly when it comes to potentially signing LeBron James next summer. "Within the organization there isn't a single person that believes we can bring...

Tracy McGrady claims he could have gotten along with Shaq

In the mid-2000s, the debate among NBA fans was Kobe Bryant or Tracy McGrady. That is not a type-o. McGrady and Bryant were considered on the same level for a long stretch in the 2000s when McGrady was putting up obscene statistics with the Magic and the Rockets and Bryant was putting up obscene numbers with the Lakers. Of course, the argument ender was that Bryant had the championships...

Lakers’ Botched 9/11 Tribute Another Reminder That Sometimes Silence Is Golden

It’s not hard to get a mental image of someone in the Lakers’ marketing department, mallet in hand, relentlessly trying to hammer a square peg into a round hole. That’s essentially what the Lakers did Wednesday when they tweeted a photo of Kobe Bryant, circa 2001, along with the words “#NEVERFORGET” in a ham-handed attempt at a 9/11 remembrance. The reaction from fans and...
