The Los Angeles Lakers and Wesley Johnson agreed to a deal last month. Here’s five facts about the 26-year-old swingman. 1. He was the number four pick in the 2010 NBA Draft After having a standout year at Syracuse – where he averaged 16.5 points, 8,5 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.8 blocks and 1.7 steals per game – he was subsequently taken with the fourth pick in the 2010 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, Johnson has yet to live up to his potential, which is why he’s landed with the Lakers on a veteran’s minimum deal just three years into his professional career. 2. He scored his career-high of 29 against the Lakers This sounds familiar doesn’t it? It seems like almost every player in the NBA records their career-high against the Lakersnb and Johnson is no different. He dropped 29 points on the Lakers during his rookie season, scoring 29 points on 11-for-21 shooting. He also registered 3 steals that night. 3. He has a wingspan of 7’1″ despite being 6’7″ One reason that Johnson could be a good defender is due to his 7’1″ wingspan. By comparison, Trevor Ariza is 6’8″, yet he has a 7’2″ wingspan which allows him to cause the offensive player some problems due to his length. The Lakers hope Johnson can develop into an Ariza-type player. 4. He shares the same agent as Kobe Bryant Both Bryant and Johnson share the same agent in Rob Pelinka. This also allowed Johnson to meet Kobe as a rookie, and the Black Mamba has mentored him ever since. 5. He was acquired by the Suns via a Lakers second-round draft pick Johnson was acquired by the Phoenix Suns last year in part by using a second-round pick the Lakers sent to them in the Steve Nash trade. Phoenix also sent out Robin Lopez and Hakim Warrick in the deal, which netted them Johnson, Brad Miller, Jerome Dyson and a 2013 first-round pick.
