Former NBA player claims Chicago Bulls are ‘for real’ this season

The Chicago Bulls have had a pretty daunting start to the schedule. That isn’t going to ease up for a few more games at least. They’re also without Coby White. Yet, they sit undefeated and atop the Eastern Conference. Anyone who predicted as much was probably not even expecting to be right. It’s been a surprisingly good start for Chicago. One former NBA player believes it’s not just fool’s gold, too.

The Chicago Bulls have beaten everyone they’ve faced, and they’ve looked good doing it. The Matas Buzelis breakout has helped, but the entire roster is playing more than well enough to mitigate the loss of Coby White. What was supposed to be a tough start has Chicago fans hopeful.

Among them is team analyst and former NBA player Kendall Gill. He said that a friend of his told him to “relax” about the Bulls being so good right now because it’s only been three games. Gill said, “He’s just upset that the Chicago Bulls may track down [his] New York Knicks, which I think they will. These three victories are not ordinary victories. These are against 3 high-caliber Eastern Conference teams. That makes me realize that the Bulls are for real.”

Gill also said that they’re doing this with two crucial players not playing, so there’s a really good chance they can continue to play well and perhaps even better when they’re back to full strength. The Bulls have three convincing wins already. They opened the season with a four-point victory over the Detroit Pistons. They then trounced the Orlando Magic before squeaking past the Atlanta Hawks by five.

Those are all teams that were better than the Bulls last year, and the Magic and Pistons both made the playoffs. To beat those teams is crucial, and to do it without two key players, including White, and look really good as a team while doing it suggests these are not the same old Bulls. Mediocrity might not be Chicago’s flavor anymore. They might be a legitimately good NBA team.
