Former Nets coach Lawrence Frank will return to the team as an assistant under new coach Jason Kidd. The Nets said Friday they also agreed to terms with assistants Roy Rogers, Eric Hughes and holdover Doug Overton to fill out the staff of their rookie coach. Frank is the Nets' career leader in victories, going 225-241 in parts of seven seasons, when Kidd was his point guard. He returns to the franchise after spending two seasons as the Detroit Pistons' coach, going 54-94. Rogers worked under him in New Jersey and Detroit, while Hughes spent the last six seasons in Toronto. Overton will be entering his sixth season with the Nets, including fourth as an assistant coach. Being a rookie coach doesn't mean Jason Kidd will fail

An NBA rookie coach being handed a team with expectations of going deep in the playoffs? It sounds like a difficult task. Actually, its been easier than one might think. Mike Dunleavy went to the NBA Finals in his first year with the Los Angeles Lakers in 1990-91. Indiana's Larry Bird was Coach of the Year as a rookie on the bench in 1997-98 and got to the Eastern Conference...

Nets have first pick under Kidd at No. 22

Jason Kidd has never coached at any level. He has no known system, no video of a practice or game that provides any hints about what type of player would fit his style. Brooklyn Jets, Doc Ditches Boston, and Other NBA Coaching Madness

I consider my initial decision to hold off on writing about the whole Jason Kidd-Nets debacle my second savviest move of the past few months (No. 1? Buying senior citizen tickets at the movies. You get caught like 2% of the time and you just have to get it swapped for an adult. Tickets are 14 bucks in New York, no way am I paying full price). Weird things happen in clusters in the...

Yes, that Jason Collins; the same guy that announced in May he was gay. Reception to his admission was met with mostly positive reactions from people inside

Kidd and Williams contacted KG on trade

New members of the Brooklyn Nets organization When the Celtics attempted to trade Kevin Garnett to the Los Angeles Clippers before the trade deadline for DeAndre Jordan and Eric Bledsoe, KG refused to waive the No Trade Clause in his contact with Boston. Around the same time of the season Garnett teased the media that he would retire at seasons end, undoubtedly because he wanted...
