The good vibrations from the Game 4 blowout are almost entirely gone.Paul Pierce has a sprained MCL, the Hawks are finally starting their best lineup, Al Horford’s back to being a problem, Rajon Rondo’s coming off a raggedy performance which he followed by snapping on a TNT cameraman, Mickael Pietrus is hitting 15.7 percent of his threes in the NBA playoffs, Kevin Garnett isn’t getting enough touches and the Celtics are one more loss away from flying back to Atlanta to play for their lives on the road.Of course, if the Celtics win tonight and Pierce shows increased mobility, all the concern would be gone and in its place would be something to the effect of: “NEITHER THE 76ERS OR THE ROSE-LESS BULLS CAN STOP US, SNITCHES! WE’LL SEE YOU IN THE CONFERENCE FINALS, LEBRON!”I maintain that the Celtics should have just won Game 5 and afforded themselves some rest for the (potentially) upcoming second round, but they’ll have two more chances to dispatch the Hawks if they need them.Game 6 ...

Paul Pierce downplays injury, admits he was a step slow

Paul Pierce ran like every step sent a lightning bolt of pain down his leg. He always plays methodically, often with a pace that rivals a middle-aged man going for a midday jog. But yesterday he was clearly bothered by an injury he suffered during a Game 4 pregame shootaround.Afterward, Pierce shrugged off the injury but admitted to playing a step slow. (Boston Herald)“I don’t...

Paul Pierce has sprained MCL, will still play tonight

Damn it all to hell. I knew Pierce looked hobbled during his last outing, but I didn’t know he looked “sprained MCL” hobbled. This is just another setback the Celtics will have to overcome. Hopefully Pierce’s mobility will improve with time and treatment.Even if it does, this, THIS RIGHT HERE, is why the Celtics should have taken care of business in Game 5 and afforded...

Rajon Rondo freaks out at cameraman after game five loss (Video)

Last night, the Atlanta Hawks stayed alive in their series against the Boston Celtics and set up a game six in Beantown. After the game, a cameraman was just doing his job of filming players near the locker room when Celtics guard Rajon Rondo spotted him and decided to confront him about filming him.Rondo told him to stop and walked away from it: (Courtesy of Celtics Life)

Rondo Overexposed by Blow Up

DATELINE: HUMOR! The best way to force Rajon Rondo to become a whirling dervish on the court is to make all the Atlanta Hawk players come out onto the court while holding video cameras. The Celtics looked sluggish and ready to be sent to the darkroom with a fistful of negatives. Then, Kevin Garnett started clicking the Rondo cam. When Celtics told Rondo that he was being filmed...

Ray Allen’s ankle not well, Paul Pierce hurting but expected to play

Just to clarify, two weeks ago Ray Allen wasn’t healthy enough to play, wasn’t sure whether he would return at any point in the playoffs, and thought he would absolutely require surgery after the season ended. I imagine it’s not good he feels like that again.

Paul Pierce Stands Tall on Defense Against Hawks Despite Sprained Knee

BOSTON -- The Celtics tried a little bit of everything, and everyone, in defending Joe Johnson in their first-round playoff series against the Hawks. They tried Avery Bradley, Marquis Daniels and Mickael Pietrus, and all three submitted solid performances against the Hawks' most dangerous perimeter scorer. Given an opportunity to close out the series on their home floor, though...

Stats to make you go hmm, playoff edition

Rajon Rondo is leading all players in the post season in EFF (NBA.com=) with 27.3, Kevin Garnett is 10th with 22.2 and Paul Pierce is 20th with 19. Ray Allen has 40 points in 86 playoff minutes. Brandon Bass has 48 in 156 playoff minutes. The Celtics are ranked in first place this post season in OPP PPG and 5th in point differential. Keyon Dooling is...

Celtics 83, Hawks 80: Celtics advance, barely

The Atlanta Hawks used every vial of alligator blood in their refrigerator to attempt a series-extending victory, but the Celtics managed to survive and will move on to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.Paul Pierce looked significantly more mobile tonight, if not quite his most spry. His tough hoop to bring the Celtics within one during trouble time was very appreciated, as was...

Celtics all participate in morning shootaround

Ray Allen’s status remains uncertain. Paul Pierce still plans to play through his sprained MCL. First team to 70 probably wins tonight and every game this series.

Comments from the other side - Hawks Game 6 5/10

Lots of ref complaints from Hawks fans.  Some were legit but then again they let a lot of stuff go both ways at times.  I think in the end, Hawks fans trashed their own team more than they did the Celtics.   I think my favorite comment was the guy who hates everything about Boston including the creme pies.  That just cracked me up!  Enjoy today's series close out comments...

Eye on the Enemy: Horford the game changer?

The Celtics are trying to eliminate the Atlanta Hawks and move on to the Conference semis. We'll regularly check in on the competition to see how things stand. Al Horford changes the dynamics at both ends. You’ll notice that Boston, which prides itself on playing D, couldn’t stop Horford in the final 2 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter of Game 5. He scored the go-ahead...

Is there really any reason to worry?

I'll admit that I've felt a little bit bummed out all morning about last night's loss. The Celtics had the Hawks on the ropes, and they had chance after chance to put the game, and the series, away last night. If Pierce makes his last shot attempt, the Celtics probably win. If Rondo goes up the middle after his steal, the Celtics might've won. Also, why the hell did...

NBA Admits Officials Made Wrong Call at End of Hawks' Loss to Celtics in Game 6

Sorry, Hawks fans. Your team got screwed. OK, the outcome of Thursday's Game 6 might not have been significantly altered by the call, but the NBA has admitted that the officials made an incorrect call on a late foul. With 3.1 seconds left in the game, the Celtics' Marquis Daniels held the Hawks' Al Horford as Atlanta was inbounding the ball while trailing 81-79. One of...
