The Milwaukee Buck s stumbled in a close home defeat against the Sacramento Kings. Giannis Antetokounmpo shined in his return from injury after sitting out the game against the Golden State Warriors, but despite his strong effort, Milwaukee couldn’t close it out and took its second loss of the season.
Reporters recently spotted Giannis Antetokounmpo with a black eye, and the Greek Freak offered a funny, though likely made-up, explanation for how he got it.
“There was this guy that was about to snatch a purse from a lady. ‘Like hey man, what are you doing stop.’ I went & grabbed him and he kinda turned & elbowed me in the eye, but then I grabbed him, put him on the floor, took the purse, gave it to the lady and then the lady was safe. I paid for her groceries too. Because she was shocked and stuff. You know the police came and took the guy. I don’t know, took him into custody. So after that, I just went back home, did some treatment and took a nap,” recollected the Greek Freak in the Milwaukee Bucks post on X (formerly Twitter).
Your friendly neighborhood Giannis.

Antetokounmpo delivered the comment with a playful, almost teasing tone, he was even trying to hold back a smile, so it’s safe to say he wasn’t being entirely serious. Even so, the moment perfectly captured his lighthearted personality and sense of humor.
The Milwaukee Bucks emerged as one of the early surprises of the NBA season, opening with a 4-1 record despite modest expectations in a relatively soft Eastern Conference. On Thursday, they turned heads across the league by defeating the Golden State Warriors even with Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined by injury.
However, Milwaukee’s defensive issues and thin rotation behind Giannis Antetokounmpo were exposed in the loss to the Kings, halting the momentum they had built to start the season.
Even so, Antetokounmpo remains in MVP form, and several unexpected contributors, including Ryan Rollins, have stepped up, particularly in the win over the Warriors, leading some to reconsider how far Milwaukee can go this season.
The Bucks will return to action Monday night against the Indiana Pacers, Myles Turner’s former team.
