Cleveland Cavaliers 79 FinalRecap | Box Score 94 Philadelphia 76ers Thaddeus Young, PF 36 MIN | 8-12 FG | 0-1 FT | 8 REB | 1 AST | 1 STL | 2 BLK | 1 TO | 16 PTS | +12As I mentioned in the Fo’ with the Foes preview, I wanted to see Brown go to Thad early and get him going. Brown did just that and it helped Thad to get involved. He struggled to convert on those ops (1-4 in 1st Q), but the early touches for #21 were great to see. His 3rd Q effort was a major key to this victory. Evan Turner, SF 37 MIN | 10-18 FG | 2-2 FT | 10 REB | 5 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 6 TO | 22 PTS | +18A solid night from “The Enigma” who is obviously making a big effort to get to the rim. Still, IMO, he threw up 4 too many wild turn around mid-range jumpers. Lastly, the way he rocked the headband tonight was just stupid. Spencer Hawes, C 32 MIN | 3-6 FG | 2-2 FT | 7 REB | 3 AST | 0 STL | 6 BLK | 0 TO | 10 PTS | +10The problem is that Spence has set the bar so high through the first 5 games that a solid night like tonight now is a disappointment. A career high 6 blocks and 2-3 from deep highlighted a nice supporting role night from Agent 00. Michael Carter-Williams, PG 34 MIN | 4-13 FG | 1-2 FT | 9 REB | 6 AST | 1 STL | 0 BLK | 3 TO | 11 PTS | +22The shooting issues all the NBA scouts mentioned leading up to the 2013 Draft are starting to surface on a more frequent basis. James Anderson, SG 32 MIN | 5-7 FG | 0-0 FT | 5 REB | 2 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 11 PTS | +9This was the first sign I have seen from Anderson that he belongs in the NBA. He’s still not an NBA starting caliber SG, but at least now I can see that he’s doesn’t belong in a YMCA league. However, zero FTAs from your starting SG is not a trend I want to see continue. Lavoy Allen, PF 20 MIN | 3-10 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 0 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 2 TO | 6 PTS | +10Forget about his rough shooting night. Lavoy had a shot blocked by Bynum in the 1st Q. In the 2nd Q he missed a wide open J and on the next trip he committed a TO. Finally, in the 3rd Q he missed a bunny that Royce White would have slammed home. Darius Morris, PG 12 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 4 AST | 0 STL | 0 BLK | 1 TO | 0 PTS | -1Can we stop with this guy already? Kwame Brown, C DNP STRAINED RIGHT HAMSTRING MIN | FG | FT | REB | AST | STL | BLK | TO | PTS | Andrew Bynum has now played more minutes at the WFC in 2013 than Kwame (last action @ WFC was 2/06/13). Yeah, I went there! Brett Brown Brown obviously made some adjustments to he 76ers transition defense and it paid off against the FB/offensively challenged Cavs. I also liked that he went to Thad early in the 1st Q as well as the 3rd Q to get #21 out of his funk. However, I think he puts the ball in Turner’s hands too much and that his continued use of Darius Morris is a waste of time. Six  Things We Saw from the Sixers… Andrew Bynum got the reception I expected as he was booed loudly down at the WFC.  What I didn’t expect was to see how hobbled Bynum looked.  Additionally, the fact that the Sixers double teamed him everytime he touched the rock caught me by surprise.  Bynum played 18 mins., scored 4 points and grabbed 5 rebs, but was a -15 on the night.  To be honest it was a surreal to see Bynum in action and I’m not really sure what to make of it all. The 76ers overcame a simply awful 1st Q to win this game.  The Sixers committed 7 TOs; had zero FTAs and were 0-3 from behind the arc.  MCW shot 1-5 in the opening stanza.  On top of that, they allowed the Cavs to score 28 points in the Q thanks to 5 ORebs and a 9-0 run to close the quarter. The Sixers got this one turned around in the in the 2nd Q thanks to Tony Wroten (5 straight to start Q & 9 overall) and 4 3PM by the team.  The Sixers improved play in the 2nd Q featured an 11-0 run that produced a 30-14 scoring advantage overall. Leading by 2 points at half, the Sixers opened the 3rd Q with a 7-2 run to take the lead at 51-44 and never trailed in this game again.  Turner had 10 in the Q.  Thad had 6 as well as huge block on a Dion Waiters dunk that gave the Sixers a big momentum push.  Helping the Sixers effort in the 3rd Q was the 5 TOs committed by the Cavs. The guards were the stars of the night for the 7-6.  MCW, Anderson and Wroten combined for 40 points (on 16-34 shooting — 47%), 18 rebs and 10 dimes.  If you toss ET’s stats (22, 10 & 5) into this category the Sixers guards wore a cape and had an “S’ on their chest in this one…On the other hand, the Sixers bench (outside of Wroten) was only good for 6 points.  All of those buckets were scored by Lavoy. The Cavs are an offensively challenged team (90.6 ppg. — 26th in the NBA), but I have to admit that the Sixers defense was much improved tonight.  They were noticeably better in their transition defense and the team did not give up anywhere near as many 3PAs on the secondary break  as the they did against the GSW and the Wizards.
