The 2012 U.S.A. Men’s basketball team repeats as Olympic champions after a 107-100 win over a familiar foe, Spain.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 30 points, which was seven points shy of the U.S.A. Olympic record for most points scored in one game (37) set by Durant’s Olympic teammate, Carmelo Anthony, just nine days prior to the gold medal rematch.

It was a tough, grind it out type of game that the U.S. was not accustom to after averaging 30-plus more points than their opponents during these 2012 Olympic games.

Durant and co. were up by only one-point at the half, 59-58, due to Spain’s ability to control the game’s tempo, as well as their ability to take great care of the basketball, committing only five turnovers by halftime and 11 for the game.

The lead went back-and-forth throughout most of the second half, until Kobe Bryant (17 points), Chris Paul (11 points) and LeBron James (19 points) each hit momentum shifting three-point baskets.

James knocked down a three over Spain’s Marc Gasol that put the U.S.A. up 102-93 with two minutes left.

The U.S. never relinquished the lead, and proceeded to send Coach Mike Krzyzewski and Bryant off with a golden farewell in their final Olympic game.

Coach K ends his tenure as the head coach of the U.S. Men’s Olympics basketball team with an astonishing record of 62-1.
