The Celtics rebounded nicely last night defeating the Nets, following an abysmal loss in Toronto which yielded very little effort.  There was a lot of solid plays to take from this game and they are highlighted below.  About the only negative from the game was Paul Pierce's minor injury to his left big toe.  Enjoy the clips as a primer for the tail end of the back-to-back-to-back tonight in Charlotte. Paul Pierce talks retirement

Is Paul Pierce contemplating retirement? Based on the way he was talking, it sure sounds like that may be the case for the Celtics forward.

Pierce not expected to miss time with toe injury, Ben Watanabe Paul Pierce certainly sent a shiver up coach Doc Rivers' spine when the Celtics captain came up limping with a few minutes left in Saturday's 94-82 win over the New Jersey Nets. Rivers quickly sent in Sasha Pavlovic to replace Pierce, who jogged gingerly to the bench but waved off head athletic trainer Ed Lacerte. Pierce's injury was not much...

Pierce and KG to sit out tonight's game

via Sean Grande twitter: "Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce did not fly with us to Charlotte. With Ray Allen out tonight as well, welcome to the No Big Three Era. Stiemsma and Pietrus will start with Rondo, Bradley and Bass. Doc on leaving Pierce/Garnett in New York: ”I had already told Kevin he wasn’t going to Charlotte..Paul was impromptu off the foot injury.”

Celtics SF Pierce could sit out vs. Bobcats Sunday

Boston Celtics small forward Paul Pierce is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Charlotte Bobcats.Pierce injured his left big toe in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s 94-82 win over the New Jersey Nets. He had previously talked to head coach Doc Rivers about taking time off before the postseason, and with the injury and the 7-51 Bobcats on the schedule, Sunday seems like...

Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo Play More Minutes Than Ideal in Toronto to Begin Road Trip

Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo know the deal. They are professional athletes, expected to go full-bore whenever the clock is running, and their legs are not going to fall off just because they played a few extra plays. Their bodies can only take so much wear, though, and the Celtics' 84-79 defeat in Toronto on Friday forced them to play more minutes than would have been ideal in...

Ray Allen doubtful to return to the Celtics on Saturday against New Jersey

This news comes on the heels of hearing that Allen didn't make the trip to Toronto for tonight's game against the Raptors. Some thought that this might have been Doc Rivers' way of resting some of his veterans during this brutal back-to-back-to-back. Let Ray have the first game off, rest up and throw him out there for a normal back-to-back scenario. That's...

Report: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen Out for Celtics Sunday Against Bobcats

The Celtics will be Big Three-free Sunday against the Bobcats. Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce did not accompany the team to Charlotte, Celtics radio broadcaster Sean Grande reports. Ray Allen was already expected to miss the game with swelling in his right ankle, so Celtics coach Doc Rivers will have a very thin bench. Fortunately for the Celtics, a sparse crew may be enough against...

QuickVid: Boston Marathon: Ray Allen’s mom runs for childhood diabetes again!

Flo Allen is again showing that her son [Ray] is not the only Allen able to run marathons. Flo continues to run for a cause, supporting the research and recovery of childhood diabetes, a disease that her grandson [Walker] suffers from.

Brandon Bass, Role Players Step Up for Celtics Against Bobcats While Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett Rest

Pretty soon, Doc Rivers will leave people with no choice but to listen to him. He tried warning everyone that Avery Bradley was a gifted offensive player, and his words came to be true. He has also raved about the positive atmosphere in the locker room this season, predicting the good vibes would win the Celtics a few games they otherwise would lose. One of those games may have come...

Ray Allen’s injury not thought to be serious, says Doc Rivers

I’ve started to become a little worried by the ankle injury that won’t go away, but Doc Rivers assures us Ray Allen’s ankle will be okay, even though the sharp-shooter will miss at least the next two games. (Boston Globe)“It’s not that serious, it’s swelling,” Rivers said of Allen’s ankle injury. “I’m concerned when anybody’s injured. It’s not a serious...

Recap: Celtics toy with Bobcats

Even without Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, the Celtics were too good tonight for the Charlotte Bobcats. The C's won it, 94-82. Avery Bradley (22 points, 9-14 FG, 2-3 3 FG) has my undying faith. When he takes pull-up jumpers on the break, or spots up in the corner for 3, I fully expect him to make the shot. Incredible. Rajon Rondo (20 points, 16 assists, 6 rebounds...

Celtics' "Big Three" could sit vs. Bobcats Sunday

Boston Celtics veteran forward Kevin Garnett could get the night off when his team faces the Charlotte Bobcats Sunday.Garnett, along with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, could watch the game from the sidelines. Head coach Doc Rivers has talked to his veterans about rest before the postseason begins and Sunday’s contest with the 7-51 Bobcats could be the best spot.Pierce is expected...

Celtics-Nets Preview

A good way for the Boston Celtics to bounce back from a frustrating defeat might be paying a visit to the New Jersey Nets. Entering the middle contest of three games in three days, the Celtics hope to get back on track and continue their recent success over the Nets on Saturday night. Boston (34-25) had won four in a row against Indiana, Philadelphia, Miami and Atlanta - all either...

Bradley Beal: The Next Ray Allen?

NBA prospect Bradley Beal is earning some high praise, and he hasn’t even done anything to deserve it, yet. Beal is considered, by most NBA scouts and draft analysts, to be a top five pick in this year’s NBA draft. The highly rated shooting guard from the University of Florida has drawn comparisons to current NBA players, most notably: Eric Gordon and Ray Allen. I agree with...
