Found April 04, 2013 on Orlando Magic Daily:
At the end of Wednesday's loss to the Spurs, Jacque Vaughn did something a bit different. Usually he points an acknowledgement to the opposing coach at the end of games before heading off to his locker room. For his mentor, Gregg Popovich, Vaughn went down to the other end of the court and visited the Spurs' head man and gave him a hug. There are a lot of San Antonio influences with the Magic right now. None is more visible than the approach Vaughn has taken directly from Popovich. Vaughn very much got his start in coaching from the Spurs' long-time head coach. In analyzing and breaking down the game afterward, Vaughn acknowledged that the Spurs had the little details down necessary to win games. That comes from preparation from the "best coach in the league" according to Vaughn. There is definitely a sense of reverence for Popovich from Vaughn's side. Popovich though was not holding back his feelings about Vaughn and where the Magic are as an o...

Pops usual self during Craig Sager interview

As it have been previously posted on this fair website, San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich isn't really a fan of these between-quarter interviews.During Thursday night's Thunder/Spurs game, TNT's Craig Sager attempted to get Pop to answer some simple questions. However, Gregg decided to keep his responses rather brief....

Pop praises Vaughn on Magic's development

The Orlando Magic have a 19-57 record, one win up on the Charlotte Bobcats for the worst record overall in the league. While it's not the most attractive record, very few (if any) will say the Magic are heading in the wrong direction in the long term. Jacque Vaughn  has been praised by his peers this season and his mentor is no exception. After the San Antonio Spurs defeated...

Spurs’ Gregg Popovich ‘concerned’ about Tony Parker

San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker wasn’t himself Thursday night when the team took on the Oklahoma City Thunder. He’s been banged up for much of the season – dealing with a bevy of injuries – and coach Gregg Popovich is “very concerned,” according to Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk. After scoring two points on 1-of-6 shooting over the first three quarters of Thursday’s...

Parker's latest injury a concern for Popovich

A struggling San Antonio Spurs team watched their season-long lead over the Oklahoma City Thunder dissipate to a half-game margin to control the top seed in the Western Conference.  But the top seed, no matter how advantageous it may be to secure, has never been the aim of the Spurs or their head coach Gregg Popovich.    There is enough respect in all eight eventual...

CC video of the day: Popovich has little to say to Craig Sager

During last night's highly anticipated Thunder-Spurs matchup in OKC, it was the clash of the Western Conference's top-two teams, but also another shared moment for Gregg Popovich and TNT's Craig Sager. Pop, who is notorious for being rather short with his answers while looking annoyed with reporters, treated us to another "classic Pop" moment with Sager...

Gregg Popovich Trolls In Another Classic Interview With Craig Sager.

These will never get old. Coach Pop gave him exactly 9 words after two seemingly long, well thought out questions by Craig Sager. You could tell Craig really put in the effort to ask good questions. Okay, maybe not the first one, that one was doomed for failure before the words even left his mouth. I know this is all good and fun, but I just can’t help to think that there is genuine...

Gregg Popovich Spars with Craig Sager

Gregg Popovich's interview with Craig Sager during Thursday night's Thunder/Spurs game perfectly illustrating the stupidity of sideline 'reporters' and in-between interviews. [That NBA Lottery... Full story at Bob's Blitz ~

Coach Popovich on De Colo: ‘He’s the backup’

“Nando (De Colo) kept us together pretty well,” said San Antonio Spurs head Coach Gregg Popovich Wednesday evening after the Spurs defeated the Orlando Magic 98-84. De Colo, who started in place of Tony Parker (Sore left ankle), finished the game with eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one block in 29 minutes of play. Before the game, asked if De Colo...

Previewing Magic-Spurs with Project Spurs

The Magic are unabashedly following the Spurs and Thunder model for rebuilding their organization. Several members of the Magic organization came directly from the Spurs and their family tree, including head coach Jacque Vaughn. So there will now, at least with this management in place, be a tie between the Magic and the perennially successful Spurs. As things stand today, Orlando...

Video: TNT's Craig Sager gets 'Pop'd' during Spurs-Thunder game

It may have been a tough loss versus the Thunder last night in Oklahoma for the San Antonio Spurs but at least head coach Gregg Popovich gave us another one of his classic sideline interviews. Needless to say, with the Spurs down 11 points to the Thunder, Pop was not in the best of moods to discuss the game when TNT's Craig Sager had the unenviable task to talk to Pop. ...

Popovich Thinks Parker Has Tendinitis In Shin, Is Very Concerned

Tony Parker, who recently missed about three weeks with an ankle sprain, was pulled from Thursday’s game against the Thunder early in the fourth quarter due to an unidentified leg injury. Gregg Popovich thinks Parker has tendinitis in his shin and is very concerned about his All-Star point guard. After learning Manu Ginobili would miss three-to-four weeks with a hamstring injury...

Coach Popovich says Spurs could face Thunder at full strength minus Ginobili Thursday

AT&T Center – For Jacque Vaughn, tonight marks his first time visiting the AT&T Center from the visitors’ locker room as a new head coach, as Vaughn’s Orland Magic (19-56) prepare to face the San Antonio Spurs (55-19). In the contest, Tony Parker (sore left ankle), Kawhi Leonard (sore left knee), DeJuan Blair (stomach flu), and Manu Ginobili (strained right hamstring...
