Mike Conley scored 20 points and the Memphis Grizzlies set a franchise record for wins in a season with a 94-76 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
With four straight wins, Memphis improved to 51-24, surpassing its 50-win season in 2003-04. The Grizzlies have already clinched a spot in the playoffs and are jockeying for home-court advantage in the first round.
Former Blazer Zach Randolph, who played his first six seasons in Portland from 2001-07, added 17 points and eight rebounds for Memphis.
The Blazers, who are effectively out of the playoffs with seven games left, were without two starters, LaMarcus Aldridge and Nicolas Batum. As a result, the team started rookies Victor Claver, Meyers Leonard and Damian Lillard.
Memphis took advantage and led by as many as 18 points in the first half. Portland (33-42) got within single digits midway through the third quarter, but could not catch up.
Lillard and J.J. Hickson led the Blazers with 17 points apiece.

The Memphis Grizzlies have signed free agent Keyon Dooling, luring the veteran guard out of retirement to add more depth for the postseason.
The Grizzlies announced the deal Wednesday.
Dooling, 32, announced his retirement Sept. 20 after signing with the Boston Celtics on July 31. He has started 86 of his 721 games with the Clippers, Heat, Magic, Nets, Bucks and Celtics. He averages...
PORTLAND, Ore. -- While guard Mike Conley says the Memphis Grizzlies are pushing for home court advantage in the playoffs, coach Lionel Hollins maintains it doesn't really matter.
History tells Hollins so.
"The players may think about it but I just want us to play well," he said. "We had some court last year and we lost the series. We've been in series where...
Damian Lillard, the Portland Trailblazers’ point guard, is about to become the NBA’s Rookie of the Year and it should be unanimous, but here is the résumé in case anyone has any reason to doubt it.

Back in the grand year that was 2009, a group of popular NBA blogs came across the 1991 Portland Trail Blazers cookbook, "Having A Ball Cooking" and the Internet took note of it.Apparently, the Trail Blazers made a second version of the book for the 1994-95 season called "Having A Ball Cooking: Volume 2" but very few copies of the actual book remain and before...
Everyone has at least one opportunity in their life to eat a little crow, and today is my time. Certainly not the first and most likely not the last time I will dine on the delicacy that is crow. In my post last week I stated that the Blazers making a last dash for the playoffs would be positive. I argued that the Blazers knocking the Lakers out of the playoffs would be more satisfying...
Mike Conley has learned he can't just rely on his quickness to be one of the best point guards in the NBA.
So he bulked up and got stronger.
Conley said he has added some muscle to his 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. He feels the added bulk is helping him finish plays in traffic - like he did against San Antonio. Conley took the contact from the Spurs 6-6, 220-pound Danny Green...
"I'm bleeding blue right now, so I haven't thought past the Grizzlies," Tony Allen said.
Greg Oden, the Trail Blazers' often-injured former center, was among the fans at the Rose Garden for Portland's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.
The 7-foot former No. 1 draft pick is good friends with Memphis guard Mike Conley, whom he played with at Ohio State.
Portland waived Oden last March after five injury-plagued seasons with the team. He was recovering from his...
The news in and of itself would not even be worth noting. Former players watch their former teams all the time. However, when Greg Oden returned to the Rose Garden to watch the Portland Trail Blazers take on the Memphis Grizzlies, it was worth noting. Oden's not a former player in the NBA, just a former player for the Blazers because of injury, and this marked his first...
Remember when then Wizards teammates, Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton, reportedly drew guns on each in the locker room over a gambling dept and were suspended for the remainder of the 2009-10 season? Well, Crittenton hasn’t played in the NBA since then, but the rumored gang member was indicted Tuesday for murdering a 22-year-old mother of four, a crime he was accused of...
During Wednesday night’s game between the Portland Trailblazers and Memphis Grizzlies, this woman was pictured holding a sign saying “HE Cheated & I Kept the Tickets!!” I must say this was well played oh her part, she didn’t resort to any extreme methods of payback but at the same time this will hurt.
Now this is an opportunity for the guys who feel the need to...
