(AP) -- Tony Allen scored on a driving layup to open overtime and the Memphis Grizzlies held off the Oklahoma City Thunder 103-97 Monday night to push the defending Western Conference champions to the edge of elimination. The Grizzlies shook off a first half in which they couldn't hit shots and the Thunder seemingly couldn't miss in building their largest lead in this series at 17 points. But the Grizzlies have yet to lose on their home court this postseason, and they won their third straight and seventh in eight games to grab a 3-1 lead in the series. Game 5 is Wednesday night in Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies outscored the Thunder 9-3 in overtime. Kevin Durant scored 27 points but missed all five of his shots in overtime, including a layup in the final seconds.

Tenacious Grizzlies too much for shorthanded Thunder

Who is Batman without Robin?  He may still be “Batman” but he isn’t going to get the mission accomplished without his much needed sidekick.  We are now seeing the true impact that Russell Westbrook has on this OKC team.  As long as Westbrook is with Durant, he will be thought of as the second guy.  But Russell Westbrook is unquestionably a superstar talent that the Thunder...

Marc Gasol Needs A Hug

Marc Gasol may need some clarification regarding the recent award he just won.  For the second consecutive year, the Defensive Player of the Year did not make the NBA All-Defensive First Team.  Okay…now, go back and read that again. In a league where the postseason is seemingly just as long as the regular season, the NBA announced their All-Defensive Teams today.  The first...

Tony Allen gets technical for tossing shirt

During the third quarter of tonight's game 5 match-up between the Grizzlies and the Thunder, former Celtic Tony Allen accidentally flung a blue warm-up jersey from the sidelines while OKC's Derek Fisher launched a corner shot. The basket didn't go in, but the officials counted it and penalized Allen with a technical foul. The chain of events was part of a 15-4 Thunder...

Memphis Grizzlies Fan Dons Terrifying Facepaint Job for Game 4 Against Oklahoma City Thunder

You know that episode of Seinfeld where Elaine almost dumps David Puddy because Puddy, as a New Jersey Devils fan, is a “face-painter”? Let’s just say Elaine would not be able to sustain a relationship with at least one fan in Memphis. A highly dedicated Grizzlies rooter went to extremes for Game 4, using his entire head as a canvas for a horrifying facepaint job. The result...

In each of the first three games of the series, the go-ahead bucket was...

Lionel Hollins has gotten the Memphis Grizzlies within a win of reaching the Western Conference Finals, a place the franchise has never been. His team has thoroughly outplayed a Thunder team that includes Kevin Durant, who is performing at a higher level than he ever has before. Yet that success should not insulate Hollins from criticism for some very curious decisions. Channeling...
