“Coach says that now”, confident Allen wants to start The 2012-13 Sixers season has finally arrived and as I previously written, “LET THE WINS BEGIN!” Ironically the first test of the season we will see former Sixer “the other” A.I and the Denver Nuggets. What type of reception will he get when he takes the court? (I am guessing he won’t get the real A.I. treatment) The Sixers who will begin the season without Andrew Bynum who is still nursing sore knees, will be (with emphasis) much improved over last season, with or without Bynum. Players to watch: From the start of the off-season the Sixers made the right move in resigning Lavoy Allen and we believed at the time he would be a starter by mid-season. With the absence of Bynum, Allen will play a key role early and if he continues where he left off in the playoffs last season and expecting more minutes, success for Allen will be 14 points and 8 boards per game. Jrue Holiday: The three-year pro now has players around him that can shoot, which you can expect (it should) a better shot selection and less shots. Holiday’s assist’s per game the number to watch, a spike in those numbers would mean he is getting everyone involved which is what a great point guard does. Jason Richardson: The elder statesman of the team, the eleven year pro is coming off his worst season of his career. In the preseason he performed well with decent shot selection playing about 30 minutes per game. Richardson knows how to play winning basketball which is why the Sixers brought him in. Staying healthy we can expect solid numbers. Nick Young: If he can shoot to the level he has done in previous seasons we have our three-point sharp shooter, making the pain of last seasons poor team shooting disappear. All the hype and now the worry of Bynum needs to stop! The Sixers are much improved without him taking the court. With him the Sixers are a true contender for the title.Similar Posts: 76ers Odds and Ends: Bynum, Holiday and Collins Bynum’s Oct 24 return, a new era to begin but for how long?
