Houston Rockets: Three Perimeter Signing Grades (Casspi, Garcia, Williams)
By Mike Elworth: Owner and Publisher/Hoopstuff…
Omri Casspi Contract: 2 years, 2 million, second year team option
Francisco Garcia Contract: 2 years, 2.5 million, second year is team option
Reggie Williams Contract: 2 years, 2 million, second year team option
Analysis: With the Rockets just signing Dwight Howard to a max contract and with James Harden also signed to one and with Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik on board for over 8 million each over the next two seasons, they really did not have much money left to spend to fill their roster around their superstar duo. Darryl Morey needed to find solid players on the cheap and he did just that, with three perimeter players. With nothing on the perimeter other than Harden and Chandler Parsons, they desperately needed depth and for just 3.5 million this year, they were able to add two high end shooters in Casspi and Garcia and a solid scorer in Williams. This is a team t...

As you might figure, the Houston Rockets are doing their best to market new star center Dwight Howard and it appears that one of the routes they are using is the billboard one. Check out the below image courtesy of Reddit user EchoesOfADistantDay which shows a billboard depicting Howard opening a suit jacket similar to Superman: Clearly, the Rockets think they have found their Clark Kent by day.
Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik may not be leaving Houston, after all, and they have the man who poised the biggest threat to their job security to thank.
Once the Rockets signed Dwight Howard it was assumed that Lin and Asik would be on their way out, but Howard is pushing for them to stay put. He and James Harden feel so strongly, in fact, about the guard and the center staying with the...
Even though Dwight Howard has only been a member of the Houston Rockets for a short time, GM Daryl Morey says the newest face of the franchise, along with James Harden, will be calling the shots from now on.
Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik's names were tossed around in trade rumors amid the speculation that Howard would sign with the Rockets, however Houston's new center and Harden...
Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey told ESPN that he’ll be keeping his core group of players, including embattled point guard Jeremy Lin, and frustrated big man Omer Asik. Morey hinted that the main reason for keeping everyone together was that Dwight Howard and James Harden asked him to.
“The reality is James and Dwight want to play with Jeremy and Omer,” Morey said Saturday...
The Philadelphia 76ers may have another problem.
They just got rid of center Andrew Bynum, who didn't play a single game with the team last season due to injury.
Royce White didn't play at all last season in Houston either. But the Rockets will send him packing to Philly, once the trade becomes official.
That is if they can even get him on a airplane.
Most of the Houston Rockets' roster will meet in Los Angeles next week for player-led workouts.
"We're going to have a little mini-camp in LA with nine or 10 of our guys," Chandler Parsons said. "So it'll be fun just to be able to get in the gym, play pick-up, work on different sets, get in shape, and then I go to USA Basketball in Vegas the following week...
One of my favorite WWE wrestlers of all-time has to be Stone Cold Steve Austin and earlier today, Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix got the chance ask what athlete he’d like to deliver his signature finishing move, “The Stunner”.
The athlete that Stone Cold picked…Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard:
Stone Cold Steve Austin just told me the athlete he would most like to...
For most of his NBA career, Metta World Peace has been a brick wall on defense. If he ever finds himself without an NBA team in needs of his services, he might take his skills to a place they know a thing or two about walls — or one Great Wall, anyway.
World Peace, who is rumored to be in discussions to join the Knicks after the Lakers amnestied him last week, has spoken with Yao...
Daryl Morey said Saturday that he does not intend to trade Jeremy Lin or Omer Asik.
“The reality is James (Harden) and Dwight (Howard) want to play with Jeremy and Omer,” Morey said. “I’ve been kicked down to assistant GM. They’re going to be here.”
Morey sees Asik as a luxury worth paying for.
“When we didn’t have Omer out there last year, we sucked,” Morey said...
The Rockets presented this clip of past Houston big men during Dwight Howard’s introductory press conference. Moses Malone, Ralph Sampson, Elvin Hayes, Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming. You’ve got some big shoes to fill, Dwight.
Stone Cold Steve Austin told Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated today that “the athlete he would most like to hit with the Stunner is Dwight Howard.” Which means…yep, you guessed it – hero status for Stone Cold! How much money would you put up for this to actually happen. $20? $100? $1000? And I don’t mean a fake, WWE stunner. I mean a real “Hey Dwight, welcome to...
Now that the dust has settled in NBA free agency and Dwight Howard has officially been announced as the crown jewel of the Houston Rockets offseason. The center sat down with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith to discuss his escape from L.A. in the interview, Dwight admits that it was difficult playing with Kobe but he also shouldered some of the responsibility.
My focus can not be on Kobe...
