Everyone knew that Isiah’s snub from the Dream Team has little to do with his game and plenty to do with his ongoing beef with Michael Jordan. But it seems as if the dislike for the Pistons’ guard ran deeper than just he and MJ’s feud.
The sneak preview of Dream Team doc airing on NBATV tomorrow night would argue that Jordan’s teammate, Scottie Pippen, also wanted nothing to do with Thomas being a member of the coveted Dream Team.
“I despised how he played the game” Pippen Said referring to Isiah.
Pippen went on to talk about how Thomas requested his “Bad Boy” teammates to play dirty. “Isiah was the general,’ Pippen said. ‘He was the guy who would yap at his teammates and say ‘Kick them on their ass. Do whatever you have to do.’ No, I didn’t want him on the Dream Team.”
Jordan also referred to the fact that it seems like the collective minds of the situation had no plans for Isiah Thomas to ever be a part of the Dream Team.
“That was one of the stipulations put to me that Isiah wasn’t part of the team,’ Jordan said. ”I was getting strong innuendos it wasn’t just…it was coming from a higher place who didn’t want Isiah on the team.”
So perhaps after all of these years, the idea behind Isiah’s snub wasn’t all about he and Michael Jordan’s dislike of one another. Maybe Jordan ate the blame for all of these years because he just simply did not care if the world knew he didn’t like Thomas.
