James Harden

James Harden’s stock rose tremendously over this past season, as he was voted sixth man of the year and is now considered one of the best shooting guards in the game. With his Oklahoma City Thunder making it to the NBA Finals and his selection to Team USA in this year’s Olympics, he is certainly a hot item. But Thunder management will have a tough decision to make at the end of next season.

As a restricted free agent next off season, the team does have the right to match any offer made to James Harden to keep him in town. Serge Ibaka will also be a free agent, and big money has already been invested in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. To keep the core four intact long term will be a struggle for sure.

When asked about whether he would consider signing with the Phoenix Suns, he certainly expressed interest.

Former Arizona State star James Harden would consider signing with the Suns if his contract expires after next season.

“Yeah,” he said. “Of course. I love it there. My mom lives there still. So that’s definitely my second home as far as my comfort level and going to school there. But obviously, I’m with the Thunder right now and what we have is special.”

This comes after the Phoenix Suns struck out on signing combo guard Eric Gordon after losing point guard Steve Nash. The team is looking for a star to take Nash’s place, and Harden might be their guy.

The team has brought back point guard Goran Dragic, as well as adding a couple of other interesting pieces.

James Harden averaged 17 points per game on only 10 shots, as he shoots the three and gets to the line very effectively. Teams will be drooling over his services next offseason, but it is to be seen what the Oklahoma City Thunder can do to keep him around.
