Kobe Bryant shoots a lot. For most of his career, that has been Bryant's job for the Los Angeles Lakers. The four-time All-Star Game Most Valuable Player has led the league in field goal attempts five times in the last seven seasons, and he came in a close second the other two years. After winning five NBA championships, Bryant has made it difficult to argue with his approach. With the acquisition of point guard Steve Nash this offseason, though, one knowledgeable observer would like to see a new player handling the ball the majority of the time for the Lakers....

Suns adjust to life after Nash

As a former Phoenix Suns fans, I feel qualified to write a post on the end of an era. I say “former” because only a few years ago they were my favorite team. I loved watching the Steve Nash to Amar’e Stoudemire pick and roll. The rest of the NBA saw Raja Bell as a dirty player, but to me he was a pesky, lockdown defender. I cheered for Leandro Barbosa, the "Brazilian...

Lakers Day: Mike Brown should appoint Steve Nash Offensive Coordinator

Mike Brown is the NBA's version of a defensive mastermind. He coached his way to an NBA Finals once by placing starters like Drew Gooden, Sasha Pavolic, Larry Hughes and Zydrunas Ilgauskas in spots on the floor where they could do nothing else but become adequate defenders. On offense that year, he let LeBron James and company do whatever they wanted.  He does not...

Worthy not crowning Lakers yet

It would be hard to find a Los Angeles Laker fan who is not claiming the 2013 NBA title before the season even starts. There is no denying that adding Dwight Howard and Steve Nash to the team make them an immensely better team, but just how good? One of the greatest Lakers of all time is not ready to give L.A. the trophy just yet. James Worthy likes their chances, but does not put...

James Worthy Jokes Pat Riley May Have Shortened Players' Careers By Not Managing Minutes

James Worthy played 12 seasons in the NBA, won three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers and retired having scored more than 16,000 points in his career. But "Big Game James" thinks he could have done even more. Worthy, now an analyst for Time Warner Cable SportsNet in Los Angeles, offered his thoughts on the Lakers' highly anticipated upcoming season in an interview...

Can Reeves Nelson make the Los Angeles Lakers out of training camp?

Kobe Bryant. Pau Gasol. Steve Nash. Dwight Howard. When you think about the Los Angeles Lakers this coming 2012-13 season, those are the four names that instantly come to mind. And then there is Reeves Nelson.  While all eyes will be focused on Bryant, Gasol, Nash and Howard, this could be the most important October in the young professional basketball...

Steve Nash, the forgotten cog

The Los Angeles Lakers never surprise anyone with their offseason acquisitions. It seemed inevitable that the Lakers would figure out a way to stay relevant after a second straight second round exit. This result would not do. Not with time running out for Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol. The Lakers were in the Dwight Howard sweepstakes to varying degrees and finally landed the next...

Lakers, Clippers Battle for Staples Center Supremecy as NBA's Pacific Division Favorites

The Los Angeles Lakers stole all the headlines this offseason when they acquired Dwight Howard and Steve Nash. They were already a championship contender to begin with, but the addition of Howard, who is universally regarded as the best center in the NBA, and Nash, a likely Hall of Fame point guard, has made the Lakers the favorite in the West. The Lakers' in-city rivals are...
