It’s rare but hardly unprecedented for a struggling NBA team to fire its head coach less than a month into a season. Just look at last year, when the Lakers canned Mike Brown with the team off to a 1-4 start. As it turned out, Brown really wasn’t the problem, and he landed on his feet back in Cleveland this offseason.
So, it’s never too early to ponder which coach might be the first to get a pink slip in the Association this season, and Bovada’s favorite on that prop is Washington’s Randy Wittman at 2-1. The Wizards had playoff expectations this season after playing well when John Wall was healthy last year. The team also made the first big trade of the season by acquiring center Marcin Gortat from Phoenix for the injured Emeka Okafor and a 2014 protected first-round pick.
That was a win-now trade with Okafor unlikely to play but also with a contract that was to come off the books after the season. Any draft pick next summer is likely to be valuable with a loaded class expected. Gor...

NBA Scout: “Jason Kidd doesn’t do anything” The Brooklyn Nets are off to a terrible start this season under first year coach, Jason Kidd. But that hardly tells the story as fellow NBA observers are noticing the lack of coaching done by Kidd. It probably wasn’t a great idea by general manager Billy King to bring in a rookie head coach with zero experience to operate a veteran...
After Brooklyn’s 108-98 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers last night, Nets coach Jason Kidd had a look on his face of complete and utter disgrace and confusion all in one. It was a mixture of sorrow, disappointment, perplexity, and anxiety all at once.
After a disappointing beginning to the season starting out 3-7, the superstar lineup of the Brooklyn Nets looks like it’s shaping...
For someone who never appears flustered in public, who speaks with a knowing smile, Jason Kidd looked uncharacteristically adrift on Monday night following the Nets’ disappointing 108-98 loss to the surging Portland Trail Blazers in Brooklyn.
Sitting on the dais, his tie loosened and slightly askew, Kidd spoke haltingly, seemingly searching for answers as to why a team with high...
The New York Knicks have had their fair share of struggles this year. That definitely hasn’t gone un-noticed by the front office, and now it’s looking like head coach Mike Woodson is getting the squeeze from the team’s front office to do something about it… or the hot seat might start heating up at a much faster rate.
According to CBS sports, while Woodson isn’t on the...
I’ve never been a fan of the Brooklyn Nets hiring of Jason Kidd. Especially once the Nets acquired Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. A rookie head coach with NO assistant coaching experience, saddle with a team with no clear identity. Just seemed like a recipe for disaster. But, I was cool with taking a wait and see approach.
Two weeks into the season an anonymous NBA scout has said...
As the New York Knicks' disastrous start to the season continues to unfold, the pressure continues to mount on the team to find a solution. The New York Daily Newsreports that while coach Mike Woodson isn't on the hot seat at the moment, the front office is making demands on him to change his lineups approach.
The fall guy eventually will be Mike Woodson even though the...
After an underachieving start, the Nets used all kinds of adjectives to describe the mood around the team, and none of them were good. Paul Pierce went with angry, Kevin Garnett said dismal and even the normally taciturn Brook Lopez admitted they were disappointed in themselves.
The Nets (3-7) arguably are the biggest disappointment in the NBA, having dropped five of six, including...
I guess we now know why Mike Woodson is having so much trouble find a lineup he likes.
The New York Daily News is reporting that Woodson isn’t on the hot seat yet, but the Knicks front office is putting daily pressure on the embattled coach to change his lineup around.
Despite the Knicks’ 3-6 start and five straight home losses, Woodson is not in imminent danger, according...
As Deron Williams returns to the starting lineup tonight for the Brooklyn Nets against the Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday after missing the last two games with a sprained ankle, he hopes to be the spark to ignite the team’s fire this season after sluggish start to the season that has been plagued with injuries.
Brook Lopez could be a step closer to reclaiming his starting role...
Following a 3-7 start, Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd has been blasted for not doing anything in his job description by an NBA scout.
Lots of reports in and around the New York Knicks. The franchise seems unsettled, and I think the impending free agency of one Carmelo Anthony is making everyone in the Knicks front office sweat a little bit. The latest report is the front office attempting to force head coach Mike Woodson to start Kenyon Martin. […]
The $190 million Brooklyn Nets are off to a rough start. They are 3-8, and general manager Billy King and owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s plan to mortgage the team’s future – draft picks and cap space – in an effort to win now – this year – looks like a total failure. While they’ve beaten the Heat – by one point on November 1st in a game the Nets controlled – and blown...
I guess when you’re only shooting 22% on the season, you’re subject to getting sent back to the bench. Things aren’t great for the Knicks right now. After losing Tyson Chandler, the team has struggled to stop anybody and has suffered blowout loses to the Atlanta Hawks and San Antonio Spurs. Apparently, J.R. Smith might […]
This year’s version of the Brooklyn Nets is costing Russian owner Mikhail Prokhorov roughly 8 kajillion dollars in luxury tax penalties, and what has it gotten him? A 3-7 record, Kevin Garnett’s corpse, and Jason Kidd — which is really just a fancy name for “Lawrence Frank’s Puppet”. In the final minute of an embarrassing home loss to the (surprisingly 9-2) Portland Trailblazers...
I had my questions coming into the season about the Brooklyn Nets and just how all of this would mesh together. No, not necessarily about the players themselves. The talent on the court speaks for itself and there are numerous all-stars appearances in the Nets starting lineup when they are fully healthy.
No, I more so had questions about the head coach Jason Kidd. It just bothered...
