Whether or not the Brooklyn Nets end up with Dwight Howard, newly acquired swingman Joe Johnson is certainly not lacking any sort of confidence.

With the team opening their new arena in Brooklyn this season, fans have been buzzing about the possibility of a New York basketball rivalry between the Knicks and Nets. The Nets haven’t been relevant for a while, but hopes are high after acquiring Joe Johnson, resigning Deron Williams and Brook Lopez, as well as adding power forward Mirza Teletovic.

So, who is really the best team in New York?

Before the pep rally — which was relatively tame compared to the Miami Heat trio’s coming-out party two years ago, although the Brooklyn version did include streamers and a party van — Johnson also declared victory when asked which team is best in New York.

“Definitely Nets,” Johnson said. “Brooklyn Nets.”

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding the New York Knicks the past few seasons due to the star power of Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, Tyson Chandler, and Jeremy Lin. That being said, the team really hasn’t accomplished anything. They were swept in the first round by the Boston Celtics two years ago, and won only one game in the first round against the Miami Heat.

The Nets are looking to take some of the buzz away from the Knicks, as well as surpass them in the standings this season. With a healthy Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson might prove to be right.

Either way, this should certainly be fun.

Dwight Howard Not Headed to Brooklyn Nets Now, But Story Far From Over

My parents used to tell us about playing kick the can in back alleys. I never really understood the rules or the purpose of the game, but I feel like we are getting a pretty good look at the 21st century version every time news breaks about Dwight Howard. The can has been kicked again, with the Brooklyn Nets signing center Brook Lopez to a four-year extension and effectively taking...

Dwight Howard is a Douchebag: Trade Scenario #312

We really haven't weighed in on this and there is no "Concrete" story per say, but it is an opportunity to weigh in on the NBA's biggest (literally) con man. Dwight Howard wants people to believe that he is a "Great" NBA Basketball player with a big heart who does tons of charitable things. We will grant that he does a lot of charitable things. ...

Where do Dwight, Magic go from here?

The dust is settling in Amway Center where Rob Hennigan and the Magic officially put an end to trade discussions with the Nets for the time being and turned their focuse squarely on the head coaching search. There have been very few things that are clear in this whole Dwight Howard saga, but let's try and clear a few things up: 1) Dwight Howard will find it tough to be a Net...

Rockets Reportedly Working On Dwight Howard Trade, But There Is One Major Problem

Almost nobody hopped into free agency more aggressively than the Houston Rockets. As soon as teams could tender offer sheets to restricted free agents, the Rockets went submitted bids on center Omer Asik and point guard Jeremy Lin. The Rockets did so knowing that the Asik's and Lin's respective teams, the Bulls and Knicks, probably would match, but hoping they would not....
